If everyone in the class collaborated then there would be no individual work being done. If someone asks you to unlawfully help them then you also need to either tell them it's cheating or report them to your professor to either show them it is wrong or avoid getting into a situation where you may break the code of honor.
There are solutions to collaborating, in my case I should've asked my professor for an extension on the assignment rather than working with another student on the assignment. It cost me more then it while have if I turned the assignment in late.
It is the student’s responsibility to know the syllabus and to learn and follow the rules. I take full responsibility for my actions. Unauthorized collaborating is only hurting the students because they will not realize the gap in their learning that they are not getting because they are not doing their work. The assignments they are doing are not fully working because they are not getting done individually. Some people may think they learn better and benefit from working with others but that creates a grey area to what is collaborating and what collaborating is acceptable and what is against the
