Entertainment is essential to bring people together. It diverts people from a demanding life and amuses them in their leisure time. Entertainment can take various forms including music, movie, sport, drama. Usually, entertainment is joyful, pleasurable and fun. However, we can see a controversy about violent video games recently. In the article, “The Government Should Stop kids From Buying Violent Video Games,” the author Timothy F. Winter supports the government should prohibit the sale of ultraviolent video games. In addition, what we are talking about the ultraviolent video games where underage children are able to shoot a policeman, related to sexual assault and brutally beat. In this article, Timothy F. Winter reports “the overwhelming weigh of scientific research that these games can be harmful to children… more than 3,000 studies linking a child’s consumption of violent media to a child’s behavior”( Winter para.4) We can ascertain the fact that how the video games have been impacted on our kid’s unmoral behavior. For instance, when I was child I was used to play video games with my brother including violent video games. I thought the most enchanting places of playing violent games is by awarding points or by allowing players to advance to the next game level. In addition, in some games, I were rewarded through compliment such as “Nice Shot” when I killing an enemy and I could hear those verbal praise frequently. At that time, most of the vulnerable children including me, had not realized those violent games directly reward violent behavior. Initially, we just considered playing violent video games as a kind of entertainment. However, after being exposed to violence day by day, underage children can become emotionally numb to violence, it’s much easier for children to engage in violent act.
