Should High School Graduates Take A Year Off Before Entering College?

Have you ever wanted to take a year off before entering college? Or have you thought about traveling but didn’t have time to because of school? Or how you are going to earn money for school? Or have you ever wanted do something but couldn’t because of school Well have you heard of a taking a gap year. A gap year is basically you taking a year off of school so you can do what you want. Going to school for twelve years straight should make you want to take a gap year. I think High school graduates should take a gap year before entering college because they can take the time to enjoy life, prepare for college, and save more money. In high school we never really have a chance to enjoy our lives. Students are so tied up with school and graduating that a lot of times we never think about it. They can travel to places like Jamaica, or even Puerto Rico. I always hear a lot of people saying that they wanted to go there. A lot of families like to travel during holiday vacations and on their summer vacations. But that’s only for a short period of time. It’s either we have to get back to school or to our jobs or our parents have to get back to work. You might also want to travel with your friends. But your parents won’t allow you to until you’re eighteen or you don’t have the money to. Just think if you take a gap year before entering college you can travel wherever and with whomever and stay for months. But you have to make sure the that you stay on track and do what you and handle your business before you can have fun. Suzy Strutner, the editor of The Huffington Post, has stated that “By taking a gap year and traveling when it's time for college you will be an expert at adapting to new environments.” I know that you probably traveled and had to adapt to new environments with your family but when you do it by yourself it’s a big difference.
