Rogers Wireless, briefly known as Cantel Inc., is a Canadian wireless telephone company that was founded by Ted Rogers, Philippe de Gaspé Beaubien and the Belzberg family in 1985 (4). It is the only wholly owned national wireless network in Canada and is owned by Rogers Communications Inc. (3). It remains as Canada’s largest voice and data telecommunications service provider and only national carrier that operates on a combined global standard GSM/HSPA+/LTE technology platforms (1). It is also Canada’s leader in deployment of mobile commerce and machine-to-machine communications (3). Rogers Wireless has approximately 35% subscriber share and 35% revenue share of the Canadian wireless market (3). The wireless products are sold through nationwide distribution network across Canada of approximately 3,400 dealer and retail third party locations (2). Their network provides consumers with access to advanced high-speed wireless services, such as but not limited to, wireless e-mail, digital picture and video transmissions, mobile video, music downloading and mobile access to the internet (2). Rogers Wireless’ network allows for consumers to have roaming data in over 200 countries (3). It is the highest revenue earning subsidiary that Rogers Communication Inc. owns, having generated a revenue of 7.3 billion of the total 12.9 billion earned by Rogers Communications Inc. for 2014 (3). Furthermore, Rogers Wireless accomplished many promises such as generating strong wireless and broadband data growth, increasing the growth in the smartphone subscriber base and maintaining Rogers’ leadership in the network technology and innovation (3). Rogers Wireless increased revenues of wireless and broadband data by 10% and 7% respectively over 2013 levels
