All of the techniques used brought character to the film as a whole. Films during this time were known to have long takes without cutting, also it didn't have camera movements in which it followed the subject to avoid cuts and relied heavily on title cards to help the audience move with the story. On the other hand ‘A Trip To The Moon’ did the opposite of that. It had about seven to eight cuts within one single take, no title card usage, and no camera movement. Since I know that George Méliès was once a magician, seeing the use of magic in this film definitely shows how his career as a magician had great influence on him as a filmmaker especially in his editing style which flashes right before your eyes and if you're not paying close attention to it you wouldn't even notice it. Being that Méliès was one of the first directors to incorporate the style of quick edits and special effects in his work led other filmmakers to follow in his footsteps. It definitely made him stand out and it set him apart from the rest of filmmakers. Because of Méliès, films that are made today incorporate many of his techniques such as the telling the story without giving the audience clues as to what's happening by using title cards.
