Pro’s and Con’s I think that the child life specialist career holds many possibilities and positive aspects. For example, the job will allow me to work with children, which has always been my dream. This is one of the biggest requirements I had when looking for a job. Additionally, child life specialists have the opportunity to positively impact a child 's life in ways that few other individuals have. I think that the special conditions under which child life specialists come into contact with children, is a very important part of their hospital stay and my personality will allow me to thrive in this career path. First I will need to graduate college with a bachelor 's degree in psychology, which will include coursework in child development. This coursework will give me the needed degree to then further pursue the requirements I would need to meet to apply for a job as a child life specialist at Froedtert Hospital. Once I have obtained my degree I will need to complete a child life specialist internship and spend at least one year in a hospital. To do this I will look at the internships offered by the Child Life Council, and try to find one close to me. Hopefully, the internship I find will be in a hospital setting so that I will be able to fulfil both of these requirements. To complete the rest of the job requirements, I will have to become certified by the Child Life Council, which has its own requirements. Child life specialists must take courses taught by a certified child life specialist in multiple areas to become certified by the Child Life Council. To start completing this requirement I will take Psychology 491, which is going to be taught by a child life specialist and will fulfill one of these course
