In chapter 1 I learned about different methods of research and this important to me as a Kinesiology – Athletic training major. In the future I will need to know how to use Basic research and applied research to observe my patients. I would use the scientific method to define the problem, develop a hypothesis, perform an experiment, analyze the data, and report the results I have when observing an injured athlete. I would use naturalistic observation to observe one of my athletes get hurt in his/her game because I would have limited control of it on the field. While laboratory observation I would be in a lab with more control on observing the injury. Survey research could be used to ask my athletes what types of Gatorade do they prefer …show more content…
This chapter is very important because it talks about health, stress and physical activity. Sensation and perception is important because its how our body sees, hears, taste, without sensation and perception we could not perform physical activity. Stress is what everyone has at one point in their life (good or bad stress). Whether if it is acute stress, episodic acute stress, and chronic stress. I could get stress from feeling like I’m being underpaid, workload, being tired from standing all day or my athlete could have a muscle stress. As a result I might burnout; take days off, lack of motivation, have an accident. I need to know how to cope with my stress and my patient or athletes stress combined, because it’s my job to take care of them. Kinesiology is the use of muscle testing to identify those stresses and imbalances in the mind and body. Some athletes including me use their sport to get away from stress and if they’re hurt they become even more stressed about their injury and other stuff. It is important for me to know how I could help athletes to become as stress free as possible for them to be at their best and for me to be a good Athletic …show more content…
I need to know different ways on how to learn how my patient is going to respond to their certain injury. In athletics I need to know how my athlete will respond to getting hurt over and over again, it’s my job to prevent that from happening. Memory is needed in every career path, but in kinesiology it is very important to remember and have storage everything needed to become successful athletic trainer like terms, medicine etc. Recall would be telling my athlete what drug to take just by looking at it instead of telling him the exact name. Recognition would be seeing an exact same injury that I saw the previous year. Relearning would be performing something on my patient that I have not done in a while. Flashbulb memory would be me seeing two of my athletes tore their ACL’s in the same game, because it would be a shocking and emotional experience for me and the team. All athletes need muscle memory for competing and recovery from injuries. Everything we have experienced through our entire life is stored in what is called cellular/muscle memory. Our muscles are connected to our brain and nervous system via the sensory-motor loop. Athletic trainers are trained to remove unhealthy, negative memory of discomfort and replace them with new positive ways of thinking for their athletes. Memory is by far the most important because without it we do not
