According to David L. Herbert, “The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) appears to be the only accredited certifier to also require that certification candidates pass a hands-on, practical test as part of its certification process”(13). Doing enough just to get by now-a-days is not allowed. Just attending workshops, interacting with online programs, or reading recommended resources is not enough for certification. According to the article “Who Lack Hands-On Practical Training and Testing,” “Formal education along with supervised practical experience is needed to prepare personal trainers for all tasks they perform, not just fitness testing” (13). To become an athletic trainer, I mainly will need to take physics and human anatomy and physiology. According to the article “Athletic Trainer,” “Certified trainers are highly qualified health professionals who are trained in preventing, recognizing, managing, and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity.” Athletic trainers are very helpful on a daily basis. Trainers work on getting to know their patients face to face. They also work with athletes health care providers to make sure they are treating their body and injury properly. Trainers do not set hours of working. They can work all day or twelve hours a day, ranging from forty to sixty hours weekly. According to the article “Athletic Trainer,” “To become certified athletic trainer, a student must graduate with bachelors or master’s degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program and pass a comprehensive test administered by the Board of Certification. One certified, they must meet ongoing continuing education requirements in order to remain certified. Athletic trainers must also work under the direction of a physician and within their state practice act.” It will only take me about four to six years to earn a degree in this field. Assistant athletic trainers can advance in becoming head athletic trainers, athletic directors, physicians, working in a hospital, or a clinic practice
