Candidate Hills provided a thorough five paragraph order. Candidate Hills briefed with confidence, placing great emphasis on mission accomplishment, and briefing tasking statements with good detail and purpose, ensuring each member understood their purpose. However, Candidate Hills somehow became disoriented during the execution of movement to contact; he began walking in a 45 degree angle from his direction of attack and had to be guided back onto the correct azimuth by his fire team on at least two occasions before taking a casualty in the scenario. Candidate Hills' emphasis on mission accomplishment, and detailed tasking statements, played out well as he became the casualty requiring his fire team to quickly adapt to the newly developed…

9… Candidate Allison lacked command presence when she issued her order to her fire team. SNC was visibly uncomfortable with the five paragraph order and stumbled through the order. SNC did not brief the Admin and Logistics paragraph nor the Command and Signal paragraph. SNC made references that alluded to sections within the five paragraph order, but there was no connection as to the five paragraph order itself.…
8. SNC provided the bare minimum information required for his five paragraph order. He lacked in confidence and when he was not sure of his azimuth he guessed a number and gave it to his fire team member responsible for the navigation. This decision would have gotten his fire team lost, but his fire team member corrected him. SNC was able to generate a plan and make decisions but they were not confident and well thought out decisions.…
SNC took four minutes of his allotted ten minutes developing his brief; SNC’s fire team did not step off to execute until after ten minutes had elapsed. SNC’s Situation paragraph contained detailed information about higher and adjacent units that was not briefed to him. SNC briefed a scheme of maneuver that was based off tactical control measures that he was unable to explain after he was asked what they meant. SNC’s tasking statements did nothing other than assign fire team billets to subordinates; SNC proceeded to brief later on that tactical control measures were not applicable. SNC briefed that the squad leader was with his fire team, which was not accurate.…
Candidate Sinclair, hereby referred to as SNC, confidently briefed a clear and logical order, however completely omitted the Admin and Logistics and Command and Signal paragraphs. At no time during the brief did SNC address the paragraph title or the information which should have been contained in those paragraphs. SNC issued a poor, partially-developed plan. SNC employed two subordinates as security and mandated these candidates provide security reports every 40 seconds; these subordinates were within 10 meters of SNC. SNC sent SNC’s remaining subordinate to continually physically check on the other two subordinates providing security.…
Candidate Patton showed he had a limited understanding of the importance of the 5 paragraph order. SNC briefed all the paragraphs; however, he was unsure of how they all connected together within the order which caused the order to not make sense. SNC showed a lack of confidence by using many filler words like “um” and “uh”. His lack of confidence would be evident throughout the duration of the problem. He did give specific sectors of fire to the security elements.…
Candidate Samuelson delivered a partial five paragraph order. SNC failed to cover the Mission and Admin and Logistics portion of the order. SNC neglected to generate a solid initial plan which contributed to a slow transition into the execution phase. SNC had a very timid approach when conveying the brief to his team members and neglected to provide sound guidance with regard to scheme of maneuver. There was no sign of command presence and it was obvious that SNC was struggling with his problem solving ability.…
Attempt CC =1 CM was unable to reach Kim Shipmon (DCP&P) in regards to a follow-up on Joseph (youth). 2. SNC showed no sense of urgency from start to finish and this was reflected in her team’s performance. During her brief SNC did not accurately brief the execution stating that they are to destroy the hide sight. SNC was briefed to destroy the enemy to prevent a hide sight from being established. SNC did not maintain control of her team once they began to receive contact.…
I believe Shipman’s motives were several. One, his mother died of cancer which may have caused a form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which may have caused an duty to avenge his mother’s death. Second, he may have believed that he was doing the victims a service by practicing euthanasia and ridding society of a future burden and relieving the victim and family of a prolonged death (their savior of sorts). Third, he may have had a form of “God complex”, he was able to control a person’s future, and life and death were at his discretion. Fourth, psychopath; by all accounts, Shipman exhibited several traits of a psychopath 1) Trustworthy; 2) Steady-normal job; 3) Appeared to have a normal loving relationship with his family; 4) Engaged…
SNC was able use the information provided to develop a thorough five-paragraph order. This proved to be a detriment to the candidate because his brief was nearly five minutes long. The SOM was too vague proving no executable information, but his Tasks assigned were very detailed, indicating that SNC had an initial plan to execute. SNC started off the execution being able to make decisions quickly and upon hitting a friction point he was able to adjust appropriately. SNC was not able to give orders with any sort of command presence.…
Following directions in the military in certain situations can be life or death, if not followed correctly. Certain jobs like, the infantry or the artillery, following directions is very important and vital for mission success.
