he was the president of State Teacher's College
in Warrensburg when Phi Sigma Pi was founded. He is one of the three
founders of the fraternity. They called him Alpha one and he served as the
central regional director for a number of years and there is a national
award for excellence in education, cultural and leadership programming
named in his honor.
Dr. Eldo L. Hendricks
Another founder of PSP, he was the dean of
faculty at State Teacher's College in Warrensburg. He made significant
contributions in the field of teacher education.
Dr. Claude A. Phillips
Last founder of PSP. He was the head of the history
department and served as the national counselor and the Vice President of
Phi Sigma Pi. He was also responsible for founding the Beta chapter. He
was awarded the first distinguished service key for his many
contributions.
Dr. C.H. McClure
He was elected as president of Phi Sigma Pi in 1928 and
he galvanized national officers into a cohesive unit. He helped to promote
PSP nationally and brought the fraternity into the professional
intrafraternity conference, which is now known as the professional
fraternity association. Every year, graduate scholarships are awarded in
his name.
Rolla F. Wood
was elected president in 1930 and Clarence O.
Williams was elected the national secretary in the same year. The national
chapters doubled from 7 to 15 while they were in office and 8 of the
chapters were in Pennsylvania.
Walter P. Percival
Was an associate professor of education at
Millersville University for the majority of his professional career.
Served as the national secretary and treasurer for almost 20 years.
Honored for his contributions as a brother over the course of decades with
the renaming of the outstanding chapter award.
Joseph M. Torchia
Known for his devotion to the fraternity and his many
students at East Carolina University and Millersville University where he
taught history. He has the distinction of serving in 5 positions for over
25 years, which is longer than any other brother in the fraternity's
history.
Richard C. Todd
Inducted as an honorary brother by the Alpha Alpha
chapter(An honorary brother is something the fraternity can elect to do).
She was the first woman to be elected to the national council and held the
position of national historian.
Anita P. Davis
("sweetheart", don't get this confused with bubby)-
She was inducted by the Tau Chapter and was the first woman to become an
honorary brother.
Clauda Pennock Todd
Inducted by the Alpha Chapter and was the first woman to
be inducted to be an active collegiate member of Phi Sigma Pi.
Laura Abney
One of the national leaders that emerged in the
1980s that helped the fraternity grow. Served as the National Secretary
and Treasurer, VP of Membership Development and the National President.
There is a national award recognizing administrative excellence that is
named in his honor.
Steven A. Diguiseppe
Under his leadership and vision, the national
organization nearly tripled in size and evolved to include a full time
professional staff and eventually the building of a permanent national
headquarters. An award for interchapter fellowship was named in his honor
to recognize his efforts to help build and strengthen the fraternity
nationally.
Jeffrey L. Johnson
He was a brother of Tau chapter and was the first
recipient of the Todd Tripod Scholarship. He served as the VP of
membership development and VP of alumni development. Continues to serve as
a faculty member and chapter advisor at East Carolina University.
David L. Batts
Wrote the words and music to
"Brothers are We" (as if you didn't know...) in collaboration with the
Music Department at Mansfield State Teacher's College (Now Mansfield
University of Penn, the northeast theta chapter)
Edward Ingraham and Charles Darrin
Wrote the words and music of "Brother" in 1996.
He was invited to perform and share this song at multiple chapter events,
and Grand Chapter chose to designate it as an official fraternity song in
2001.
Thomas "Ted" Daniels
First female national president elected in 2002 from
Alpha Epsilon chapter.
Tammy A. Mleziva
He is an Alpha Phi alumna and former National Council
Member. He created the Phi Sigma Pi Foundation in 2004 and was the first
president of Board of Directors of the Foundation and is still currently
serving.
Carlye Buchanon
the highest honor an individual Brother in Phi
Sigma Pi may recieve. Bestowed by a unanimous vote of the National Council for
outstanding service to the National Fraternity.

Phi Sigma Pi shall be an Honor Fraternity for students in four-year collegiate
institutions and Phi Sigma Pi alumni, founded upon a basis of superior
scholarship with the avowed purpose of advancing academic, professional, and
social ideals. Phi Sigma Pi shall exist to meet the needs of close fellowship among
students of like ideals who are interested in the same end. In carrying out the
purpose of Phi Sigma Pi, the organization shall strive to personify and encourage
three ideals:
· the acquisition and dissemination of information and knowledge
through scholarship,
· the application of professional skills and the fostering of leadership
qualities by promoting and advancing the welfare of humanity, and
