Sisterhood In Mary Hoyle's Alpha Xi Delta

Alpha Xi Delta undoubtedly provided each of us with wonderful memories and friendships that will last for years to come. Mary Hoyle ’81 says that, from the beginning of her college career, she knew she was meant to be an Alpha Xi Delta. Her membership to the Psi Chapter gave her a strong sense of sisterhood and made her transition into college life less daunting. Today, she still keeps herself involved in the sisterhood and is impressed with the status of the undergraduate chapter.
Mary joined Alpha Xi Delta because it was where she felt most comfortable during the rush process. She said that when she was around the sisters, she never felt like she was being judged. “I felt a strong sense of sisterhood, and I knew this was where I belonged,” she said.
On a large campus like that of Ohio State, being a member of the Psi Chapter made the campus seem less daunting. “If I

“Some of my favorite experiences include my initial pledging and realizing I was becoming part of a special family. I also enjoyed the scavenger hunt to find out who my big sister was, along with the pledging and initiations of both of my little sisters,” she said.
As an active alumna of the chapter, Mary often participates in alumnae activities and regularly makes financial contributions to the chapter. “I am very proud of the fact that our chapter is still thriving on the Ohio State campus 35 years after I left. I’ve been back to visit the house, and it was still very well kept and updated according to the latest trends, so I know my money is being well spent,” she said. “Through alumnae events, I am able to see a lot of familiar faces over the years, and connect with events in my community.”
