Seven years later came the dreaded middle school years. Suddenly there was less room for my favorite rocking chair and the tv show that kept me mesmerized for hours. Instead of just being mesmerized by all the pretty colors, I now realize the real world logic to it. It is all fun and games through your younger years, like Tommy and his baby friends. Then comes the bossy teenage years like Angelica. Finally as you see all of the adults running around trying to juggle eight tasks at once it’s eye opening. Life doesn’t slow down for us, and we need to be aware that we are growing up so fast.
Amazingly, we still have my old wooden rocking chair, and it still creaks every time you sit in it. Whenever I’m feeling down I can put in the modern DVD version of my show and it seems like time stops. I lose sight of reality for a little while and I hope that never changes. What has changed is me. I’m not the silly girl screaming and clapping when it comes on anymore. Those fictional babies and vibrant colors are forever trapped in the show, but I will continue to evolve. After years of accompanying Tommy and friends on their journeys I hope that the memories will continue to tag along on
