Whilst in England you need a license even own a gun, in the USA it’s legal to carry a gun into public places (in some states). The only reason it’s legal to carry firearms is because of the Constitution of Rights in America and the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms). This Bill of Rights was adopted in 1791. Should people still have to live by these rules that were made 200 years ago? Back then, you may have needed a gun of your own to fight in a war or protect your own family, but people have defended themselves by using the fact that they are not breaking the law by having a gun.
Another reason guns should be banned in the USA are all of the shootings that happened that shouldn’t have happened. Mass killings such as Columbine were down to the fact that those teenagers could get their hands on firearms, otherwise it probably never would have happened. More people have been shot by the police than people that died during the Iraq War*. Cops cannot be trusted with these weapons, as is shown in the Mike Brown case in Ferguson, where police officer Darren Wilson shot unarmed teenager Mike Brown and didn’t get arrested. Since January 1st, 735 people have been killed by police officers, a number which is still rising**.Without these police officers having guns, none of these events would have happened.
