Gun Control is the power of government that sets limits on guns, and has recently government using its power to find the best way to prevent things like school shootings and other sources of gun violence in the country, and government knows that for people to keep their guns they must be responsible. Guns are a resource to many because they provide a way of sports, money, and hunting for citizens in the US, but some believe that guns are too dangerous for citizens to own and that the total removal of guns would be the only way to prevent gun violence.
The US government is taking all precautions and actions to preventing school shootings. “26 people died after gunman Adam Lanza rampaged through a western Connecticut elementary school. It was the second worst school shooting in U.S. history. Lanza also shot his mother multiple times in the head at their home before starting his mass shooting at the school. He committed suicide as first responders closed in” (Shooting Rampage). After the terrible events Sandy Hook government realized that they had to find a solution to stop anything like this from ever happing again. People also saw that kids were left defenseless as they attend school. Federal and State government focused their power to find solutions to stop school shootings. “Texas just trained its first class of armed school marshals, which aims to do for classrooms what the surge of sky marshals did for commercial airliners after the 9/11 attacks”(Conrads). Government is taking in new ideas to try and prevent mass shootings in schools and leaving schools defenseless. Some states think that the only way to stop mass shooting from happing again is try to take away guns from society even if it takes a very long time. “While Connecticut took extreme measures to muscle through one the most comprehensive packages of gun laws In the country, Arizona legislators moved to make it easier to carry guns in public”(Boehem, Ferris). Arizona took this stance because they believe that if government made guns illegal it would be impossible to track guns that are already out in public. Therefore, criminals who already have guns would be able to keep the guns without registering them. This would leave many guns out in the public that are not being tracked, available to criminals. Since it would be illegal for citizens to own guns it would leave them unable to protect themselves and their families against these criminals. “The lesson of Sandy Hook is not ‘guns are dangerous.’ Rather, it is, ‘The world is dangerous and I need to protect myself’ “(Franklin). Arizona takes this to heart and believes that the world is very dangerous and taking guns away would stop people from killing people and that they need to protect themselves. The country is having a very hard time and very heated debates on how they will solve their problems with guns. Both sides of Legislators know one truth about guns is that with the right of bearing arms comes
