To me diversity goes far beyond just race, gender, and age. Diversity means there is a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, life experiences, and thoughts/ideas. Diversity means there is an opportunity to grow, learn, and for success. It is an opportunity to grow because you are around people with whom you don't share many similarities, and this means that you will try to get to know them, thus expanding your view of things when you hear how others see things through their eyes. Diversity is an opportunity to learn about other's cultures, what experiences they have had, and hopes/aspirations that they have formed through the lives that they have lived.
