Causes Of Infidelity In Relationships

His soft touch rubbing against my body was slowly fading away. The sparkle in his eye was gone. Our conversations that lasted for hours now only lasted for seconds. The way he looked at me, touched me, and talked to me was not the same. We both started to feel an unfilled, unloved, uninterested emotion in our relationship. Having these feelings, we both put ourselves in situations that we knew were morally wrong. We not only hear it, but we also see incidents of disloyalty in relationships more than we 'd like. According to article "Quick Hits: Sex in the News", a researcher from the University of Washington found that about twenty-eight percent of men and fifteen percent of women have been unfaithful to their partner during their relationship. …show more content…
Therapist Winifred Reilly says "They say they wanted to have someone who would look into their eyes and make them feel sexy again". Reilly also says "It is not really about sex per se as much as the experience of being with somebody". Both women and men that are in relationships turn to Reilly and express that their infidelity comes from the missing emotional connection from their partner. It is not just sex that these women/men want, they want to feel loved and wanted. In the year 2013, Tyler Perry directed a movie called Temptation. In this movie, Judith, an aspiring marriage counselor, is married to her husband Brice. After years, she felt their emotional connection fade away. Brice was so wrapped up into his job, he forgot Judith 's birthday for the second time and failed to show her the attention she wanted. She met a man by the name of Harley at her job. Unlike Brice, Harley was giving Judith all of his attention. He made her feel this emotional connection like no one else could. In result, Judith began to have an affair with Harley and put her marriage in danger. Another example that demonstrates how lack of emotional connection can cause infidelity is from a personal experience. Being in a relationship that emotion was no longer shown, I found an emotional bond in someone else. I never intentionally looked for attention and affection from anyone else. To be completely honest, I wanted to find this affection from my boyfriend but I never got it. The guy I found this connection in was someone I knew from the past. I never expected anything between us, but he showed me something different. He listened, and tried to understand me. Every time I needed someone he was there. He made me feel wanted. We never became physically involved, but my eagerness to turn to him and the connection I felt with him was beyond that. I enjoyed his company more than my own boyfriend

Promiscuity was satirized in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, and as much as we would like to believe our society is not nearing the vulgar actions of the New World State, we should not believe in such unrealistic concepts. Some of the same struggles that were faced in the book are being seen more and more in our world today. Even though there is some uncertainty and minute resilience in the novel, promiscuity is an ongoing battle in the New World State and on the Reservation; likewise, current society is showing that the intimacy shared between two people could be replaced by a rising acceptance of promiscuity. Though Lenina is an Alpha with the perfect hard working life and freedoms, the promiscuity practiced and pushed upon the people…

I believe that out of the three dimensions of sexuality the video “What you don’t know about marriage” addresses the psychological dimension. The video describes aspects, feelings, and experiences that we may feel that contribute to the success and failure of marriages. In the video Jenna McCarthy describes how certain behaviors and actions, such as men doing household chores, contribute to the wives becoming more attracted to their husbands, creating a chain reaction. Where the husband attracts the wife, the wife is more open to providing more sex, more sex satisfies the husband and is genuinely nicer and appreciative-like towards the wife, the wife is happy towards the attitude, and the relationship all together sustains to be a happier…
