Pornography which in most cases is referred to as porn is all that which consists of the sexually explicit contents which aim at sexually arousing an individual. With the advancements in technology, pornography is made viewable just by a click of a button provided one has an internet connection. In other cases, it is available in literature, magazines, audios and many other platforms. Some of the questions which are subject to debate include, what are some of the effects of porn on us? Can it be considered as a pastime or a malignant addiction? Could it be spicing lives of couples or be destroying relationships or a combination of both? Studies have outlined that children who have had sex by the age of thirteen are at higher chances of having multiple partners and thus they are capable of engaging in frequent sexual encounters. Further, this group of individuals after watching pornographic content, they would want to try some of the behaviors they saw which in essence increases the chances of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.
When children are exposed to sexually explicit content earlier in life, these tend to have profound impacts on the child’s behaviors, attitudes and values towards relationships and sex itself (Benedek and Catherine 236). It is quite unfortunate that the media does not portray what the parents would want for their children. As such, parents should ensure that they monitor what their children play, watch or listen to and take every single teachable moment to discuss the inappropriate behaviors or contents therein.

One significant effect of watching porn in marriage is that the true passion is eventually nullified. In this context, it is factual to say that great marital sex has nothing to do with the stamina, technique or experience. In marriage, a great marital sex is based on a true passion when the couples get physically connected and intimate. With the introduction of porn into the equation, this cannot be achieved.
Further, the introduction of porn in marriages always lead to ridiculous expectations. Being a multibillion dollar industry, porn is depicted in ways to appeal and grab the attention of the viewers. In essence, porn is an entertainment which is done by actors. Family life and in essence marriage is far from a thirty-minute sitcom and in the same context is the sex life (Perry 441). In the end, our minds are clouded by the false images in porn thus raising our expectations unnecessarily. Such always leads to disappointments leading to a wreckage of self-esteem of both the husband and

In Ross Douthat’s Article “Is Pornography Adultery,” he discusses different cases in which pornography has been seen as “cheating” in different relationships. Now when you look up adultery the definition that comes up is, “voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse.” Although by definition pornography (also known as porn) is not adultery it’s understandable why it has been seen as a problem. Douthat’s argument in this article is that, “If it’s cheating on your wife to watch while another woman performs sexually in front of you, then why isn’t it cheating to watch while the same sort of spectacle unfolds on your laptop or TV?”…

I believe that out of the three dimensions of sexuality the video “What you don’t know about marriage” addresses the psychological dimension. The video describes aspects, feelings, and experiences that we may feel that contribute to the success and failure of marriages. In the video Jenna McCarthy describes how certain behaviors and actions, such as men doing household chores, contribute to the wives becoming more attracted to their husbands, creating a chain reaction. Where the husband attracts the wife, the wife is more open to providing more sex, more sex satisfies the husband and is genuinely nicer and appreciative-like towards the wife, the wife is happy towards the attitude, and the relationship all together sustains to be a happier…

The clinical sexual history interview was particularly challenging because I chose to interview my husband of 17 years. Perhaps my own discomfort highlighted some of the cringe worthy moments during the 60 minute interview, including asking about the first time he had intercourse. The anxiety made me question if I truly wanted to know the answer to the sample intake questions. After all, I can still hear my grandmother’s voice a few minutes before my wedding telling me, “lo que no fue en tu ano no es tu dano/ what was not in your time is not your harm,” meaning I must not to worry or ponder about my husband’s previous relationships or sex partners.…

Teenagers who are sexually promiscuous have more than likely been sexually abused or exposed to sexual endeavor from adults. For centuries youth have been stigmatized for their early childhood sexual behaviors. However, sex is not a child first thought during their growth development process. Promiscuity is when a person has sex with a plethora of people on a casual basis. Some researchers and critics believe that it is just human nature for the sexual nature to rise at a young age, others believe otherwise.…

As defined by the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), comprehensive sex education programs start in kindergarten and continue through 12th grade. While abstinence-only supporters believe that sex education programs expose the children to sex too early, which in turn leads to more sexually active youths, this is not true. These programs provide the youth with “complete, accurate, age-appropriate sex education that helps them reduce their risk of HIV/AIDs, other sexually transmitted diseases, and unintended pregnancy.” Though it is true that abstinence is the safest sex measure, people will have to face reality and remember that sex is a natural part of life. There are too many people living in “denial” about their children being sexually active; and even if their children are abstaining from sex, eventually there will be a point in life where they will be.…

While it is evident that there are some legitimate arguments made as to why pornography should be neither illegal or restricted, they all miss the point of focusing on the true repercussions that porn has in society. First, people are ignorant to the role that pornography has in the sex-trafficking trade. "It is commonly known in the anti-trafficking field that 80 percent of survivors report that their customers showed them pornography to illustrate the kinds of sexual acts they want performed." Additionally, porn is used for training on specific acts and movements that are highly requested by clients. Victims are often forced into pornography through abusive psychological and physical actions for the sole purpose of the trafficker's financial…

Great post, Carl! It is clear that the general effect of pornography including child pornography images is the top cause of psychological implications that many forensic examiners experienced. These include implications on trauma, stress, compassion fatigue, burnout, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depersonalization (Whelpton, 2012). Young and Cooper’s research indicated that cyber-sex is a form of psychopathology and a symptom of neurotic, compulsive behavior that is a type of addiction. Besides being addictive, pornography seems to be progressive.…

Censorship has existed for years protecting the society. Schools often have issues with censorship due to parents trying to protect their children. Parents should have a place to say on what their child is exposed to because there is so much darkness in the world. Try to keep this in mind as you go about your daily lives. Don’t remain ignorant to what is in your face almost everywhere you look. Try and see both sides of this argument but keep in mind how remaining ignorant to what we are exposed to will effect us all. By not keeping an observing eye on what our children are viewing and what they are becoming accustom too we are turning our back on our responsibility not only as a parent but as a civilized…
