One of the most important characteristics of communication is that, communication is relational, not individual. No single individual can have an exchange of ideas between themselves, there must be a sender of information and a receiver. Another characteristic of communication is that it is a process. Communication can change with time, such as, your outlook on life. Another person can influence the way another person thinks, and your thoughts may gradually shift from what they use to be, over a process of a life time. Communication is also symbolic.
