Purpose Of Communication Essay

The purpose of communication is to captivate an audience and share ideas. Both the audience and the ideas balance each other out. TED talk is great example of communication. The greatest minds are in a small room, connecting with each other and sharing different experiences. My experience with communication is not as life changing or as deep, but our voices should still be heard. A lamb is lost without its shepherd like a writer without a pen. The pen is our voice and if the pen runs out of ink then we are dead. For we have than run out of breath and have passed on. Only when we die is when our ideas die too. Of course like Steve Job’s legacy our ideas can still be carried. He had an image in his head to change the way people communicate in everyday life. Although Steve Jobs was not successful at his first attempts he had a dream that one day we would be …show more content…

There would be no purpose, because taking away a writer’s voice is the same as pepper spraying protesters fighting for their rights. Banning books is at most insulting the purpose of communication for if our words are thrown away then we lose a piece of communication. I once wrote a story about what I thought life meant, for my senior class and received a bad grade. The teacher wrote a note on the paper saying I was wrong and that I should try restate my opinion. How is one’s idea communicated or shared wrongly? I will probably never know and will continue to believe she was a bitch. They didn't allow their kids to experience the true beauty of reading these wondrous books. Though in secondary education it should be all access, since at that point students are beginning to choose what the wish to pursue in their lives, so why limit what they should can be exposed to, as in real life you encounter many diverse viewpoints in topics. In Marilyn Maxwell and Marlene Berman's essay To Ban or Not to Ban: Confronting the Issue of Censorship in the English Class they discuss why it is illogical to censor and/or outright ban books due to their contents. So they offered up an English class lesson plan in which the students of the class over the course of three weeks read a banned book, discuss the plot and various elements of the book leading into a trial in which the class is split into two sides: one which argues for the books banning, or the other side as to why it should not be banned. Thus is ideally creating a constructive environment in which the ideas and history present in the book may be discussed with people of diverse backgrounds, rather than arguing about the first dimensional aspects of the book. Book banning leaves others ignorant on the topics and themes found inside the books; it would be better for others to become educated on the topics, not left blind and ready to repeat mankind's past mistakes. Book banning, as it leaves ignorance in it wake, also forces mankind to stop its development, with it not being aware of both new and old ideas that challenge and grow society. Lastly, it takes away the freedom of speech and choice. No group can decide for any individual what they can believe and think, and no person should not be allowed to speak what they wish to. 93 percent of high school students out of a pool of 30 contended that they were against book banning, showing that a future where banning books has ended has a high chance of existing (Ontario High School).…

Since the dawn of the pen and pencil, literature has existed to communicate the human experience. There are countless numbers of books in the world, all of which drastically vary in content, size and quality. Despite all of the disparate traits between them, this drive to relay another’s view on life is shared among all literature. However, there are many individuals that seek to suppress these views by banning books from libraries and schools. This desire to ban and suppress an author’s interpretation could arise from a variety of factors: differing ideological viewpoints, aversion to graphic content, or a distaste of a book’s “offensive” subject matter to name a few.…

My thoughts on human nature can best be summed up by the character Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: “We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on, that’s who we really are.” Our ability to critically think about our behavior and make choices is what makes us human and sets us apart from our hominid ancestors. In fact, as far as other species are concerned, there is no concept of “good” and “evil”; there is predator and prey, threatening and safe, dominant and submissive. Morality is not a factor at play in the animal kingdom.…
