Standard seven includes ethics where the nurse will practice ethically by protecting and promoting the autonomy, beliefs, dignity, values, and rights of individuals, communities, and populations. Standard eight includes education where the nurse continues there education needs and remains competent in their current nursing practice. In standard nine the nurse will integrate evidence based care and research into their practice. Standard ten consists of quality practice; the nurse will contribute to the quality of care given by following all the standards of care and professionalism. In Standard eleven the public health nurse will communicate effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice. Leadership is outlined in standard twelve where the nurse will demonstrate it in the practice setting and among the profession. Collaboration with the population and others during practice is outlined as standard thirteen. Standard fourteen consists of professional practice evaluation where the nurse evaluates self in relation to the profession. Communication of needs and the assessment of patients were done in a manner that followed the standards such as the different types of communication needs rather it was written, orally, or electronically. The nurse was able to provide adequate ways to ensure that education was understood such as using a translation phone for patients who did not speak English. Appropriate communication was used with different age groups in making sure they understood the importance of their care. The nurse also communicated in a positive and nonjudgmental character to all patients in an ethical manner. According to Groves (2014) communication is important rather its one on one or within a group. Communication is not just based on the words that we speak, but also our manner of speaking and body language and the effectiveness within which we listen. To communicate effectively it is important to take in account the culture and context of the information.
