PERU
In south america you will find Peru. With a population of 30,147,935, the area of Peru is 496,224 square miles. The major rivers are Amazon, Ucayali, and Madre de Dios. Peru is the third largest country in South America, running along beside Brazil and Argentina. It has a variety of landscapes from mountains to beaches to deserts and rainforests. The rainforests cover nearly half of Peru. The Andes is the second highest mountain range in the world.
In Peru they speak spanish mostly but they also speak in Quechua which are their official languages. Their form of government in called Constitutional republic and the capital is Lima. In Peru there is actually a mix of many different cultures such as Indians, Spaniards, …show more content…
Their president serve a term that is five-years and can only be elected twice in a row. Peru is a rich country with natural resources, that have gold, silver, copper, zinc, lead, and iron they even have reserves for oil and natural gas.
The first inhabitants have been around since about 15,000 years ago. About 5,000 years ago societies emerged and began to spread inland which includes the Chavin, Moche, and Nasca.Most important Culture is Inca who lived around 600 years ago. Cusco is a major city still today and their Capital. Built by Machu Picchu, the famous, mysterious, and also ancient city of Inca is still in the Andes. In 1532, Inca was conquered by the Spanish after centuries of thriving.
Some of the many festivals that they have is Fiesta de la Cruz, El Señor de los Milagros, Inti Raymi, Virgen del Carmen, Virgen de la Candelaria, Puno Week , and many others.
