Personal Narrative-My First Football Player

Decent Essays
When playing Trojan football you normally see juniors and seniors out on the field underneath all of the lights. But two years ago a sophomore had a chance to play varsity football due to a knee problem with the center. That problem moved the slow tackle to fill the centers spot opening a starting position for this new sophomore who's first game was against the Milbank Bulldogs. Well that sophomores was and still is me, I have a been a two way starter for three years now and throughout my years of football I have made plenty and great memories. I remember it like it was yesterday, the first play was OG 32 full-back trap. This play was a great play against Madison, but for one thing… I had to go against Tyler Curry, Madison’s middle linebacker and center. My job was to get to Curry and move him away from the two hole so Cody Miller could run through without any problems. So on set, hut I ran to Curry and blindsided him and lit him up. I was so happy I've worked really hard on this block and it finally paid off, inside I was excited and thrilled that it worked out until I looked at Curry on the ground and I knew I was in for a rude awakening and it was gonna be a long game with him. Usually people say it's no big deal you just go against him on offense but those people were wrong. I go head up against him on defense as well and he owned me, he could move me wherever he wanted to he was a class “A” man-child and as a sophomore I was scared. Throughout the game, it was really tough for me knowing that I was giving up a lot of experience, I was also really tired I was going both ways with little or no break, but what kept me going through the game was my friends around me the seniors deserved to have the best out of everybody and I gave it my all. Another reason was for Coach Uttech he really helped me get ready for the game mentally reminded me why I was on the field in the first place and that the guy across from me is no better than I am. He helped

I was not surprised—I knew the basic principles of exercise—but my knowledge had not prevented me from feeling like I was barely improving during those practices. The season finally began that fall, and I was disappointed to hear that I had not been chosen as a starter for the team. All hope was not lost, however, because the coach told the backup players that if we improved, we could be made starters. The season went on and I kept improving and finally, we made it to the state championships. After substituting in the end of the semi-finals, my coach pulled me aside and told me that I would be starting as middle linebacker for the final championship game.…
