Behind the curly hair, the spontaneous laugh, and the vivid imagination, something sparked a fire in my soul. Throughout my life I have felt so lost, like a pier soul trying to find something to attach itself to. I consequently tried to find my purpose in this world and find a passion that was worth embracing, but nonetheless I would fail. It was not until my freshman year of high school, when I finally got that indescribable feeling. I had found what to attach myself too, I had found myself within the music. Marching Band was what I had been looking for my whole life, it was what defined me. Music has a way of spilling into my heart and expressing feelings I did not even know I could express. As I looked around I came to the realization that these kids around me had the same love for music as me. A little sprout of hope started to form as I started to progress in my musicianship. I knew music would be a big aspect to my life because of my roots, but it was not until high school when I would finally find …show more content…
I was very intimidated by the seniors teaching me how to march, play my music, and be a excellent band kid. I knew at that moment I was in for a splash, I just had to jump in the pool. Throughout all of band camp I examined every little aspect I could. I noticed the student leaders helping those around them, the firm discipline, and most importantly the close bonds with one another. In that moment I knew that is what I wanted to be, I wanted to be looked at as a leader. I was astonished by the impact my fellow upperclassmen peers made on people like me; nonetheless I knew I wanted to grow into those

The moment I decided to join the band was in elementary school when our class went to watch the middle school band play their Christmas concert. Although several of my friends had told me that classical music was dull and only useful for putting others to sleep, I loved listening to it. I would try to figure out what instruments were played and their individual part. I was glad to be able to listen to a live band without the need of speakers or headphones.…

I remember the first time that I picked up a violin. The sounds that came out probably couldn't qualify as notes, much less music. That was in third grade, and I was almost totally unaccustomed to being challenged. Confused at the thought of failure, I told myself that if I practiced for a few weeks, then I would sound amazing, but even after weeks of practicing I still sounded like a dying squirrel. That was the first thing I’d tried that I wasn't sure if I could succeed at.…

Music has been a part of my life since I was in the sixth grade, starting from when I joined my intermediate school’s band where I played the trumpet. During high school, I left band yet still continued practicing the trumpet but I also wanted to use my free-time to learn a new instrument and so, during senior year, I decided to learn the violin. I have always loved the timbre of the instrument but since my high school did not have an orchestra, I had to learn to play through self-learning and private-lessons. I was excited to learn the violin; however, my progress was slow. Though my musical background gave me the foundation needed to read sheet music and learn notes quickly, as an adult learner it was difficult for my muscles to adjust to the fine and specific actions required of the violin.…

My life has basically revolved around music. Ever since I was a baby, I was singing along to the songs my mom would put on or banging on pots and pans making "music". I finally learned to play and actual instrument in third grade, the violin, although I wasn't as enthusiastic about that as I should have been. In fourth grade, I undertook flute lessons, sticking with that ever since. Most of my time was spent practicing, and I was even able to join my middle school's advanced band in sixth grade!…
