These glimpses into my psyche are far more important than all the description words in existence. My greatest achievement in this poem was my ability to put such an integral part of myself into words. When I sat down to write this poem I knew what my goal was, but I only thought that I would get around half of what I meant. By the time I finished, I was amazed with how well I managed to use metaphorical concepts to talk about an admittedly “abstract” thing. These abstract concepts are best shown in my two favorite lines, “It’s my greatest companion” and “But also my worst nightmare”. They show the internal struggle I have with enjoying what my mind can accomplish and the fear I have of some of my own thoughts. The way I managed to change the tone of the poem so completely from the beginning to the end was also a personal achievement of mine. At the beginning I used words and phrases such as, “...full of dreams”, “...potential is infinite”, and “...one of a kind”. I think the moment I made the shift into the darker tone was when I was speaking of dreams and I said, “But many of them dark” in regards to my
