From the registry, researchers were able to determine the doses of the whole-cell pertussis given before June 1992 which contained thimerosal while those after were thimerosal free. Information containing conditions associated with autism such as tuberous sclerosis, congenital rubella and Angelman syndrome were obtained from the National Hospital Discharge Register (Knudsen, Olsen, 1998). Other factors that may affect the study included examples such as the child’s sex or birth weight and were obtained from the Danish civil system (Hviid, Sellfeld,Wohlfahrt, Melbye, 2003).
