It all started when my dad gave me his favorite childhood story book.

It was a Persian fairy tale about a guy who could be whatever he desired. And from that day on, began my journey of dreaming. I dreamt of things every kid in school dreams of - ranging from being an astronaut to being the coolest kid in college.

A few years down the line, with an engineering degree in my bag, I got into Schlumberger. And this is what changed my life. No, I did not stop dreaming. Rather, I backed it with determination, passion and integrity. Here overcoming barriers such as language, culture, age and climate, as a Drilling Engineer I led multinational, multidisciplinary teams through challenges I initially saw as insurmountable.

Afterwards I had the opportunity to engage with different students in multiple career workshops which gave me a true epiphany. Straight away I knew I must work to reduce the alarmingly high graduate unemployment rate (47%) in Bangladesh. In order to make this happen, I got involved with two university career centers as a part-time counselor. Connecting with students from diverse backgrounds and getting a glimpse of their success through my small efforts are deeds I hold close to my heart. Following both these experiences, I realized the power of leadership and innovation by seeing my own ideas come to life and impact not just business boundaries but also the lives of people.

So to continue advocating for large scale change, I want to be a Strategic Consultant. As a consultant, I want to be a fearless thinker who inspires and executes transformational ideas and strategies that expand employment opportunities for the youth of today. In order to make this happen, post MBA I want to gain first-hand experience working for a global consulting firm which is committed to youth unemployment. To make this transition, I know I lack the profound understanding of different tools such as organizational strategies, financial services, asset valuation and business modeling. Although I have worked in impactful roles, soon I realized that my goals can only be accomplished by addressing these gaps at a rigorous MBA program. After a comprehensive analysis, I am confident Foster could offer such direction through its extensive adept faculty and tailored curriculum. Furthermore, talking with Jacob Childs, a second year student and learning about his journey from Schlumberger to Deloitte really helped me to relate at a personal level and reinforced my beliefs. From our conversation, I came to know how participating in Foster’s Consulting and Business Development Center will introduce me to new aspects to approach my goals. After going through several tough episodes in life, I know things constantly go wrong no matter how smart and hardworking you are. So in accordance to post MBA uncertainties, as an alternative I see myself working as a Consultant in Bangladesh for technology startups. Due to recent investments, this sector has the potential to serve as the leading export sector for Bangladesh by 2025 and I intend on leveraging this position. Moreover, here I already own a prominent business network due to my family company which we founded two years ago. The goal of our company is to use technology as a tool to eradicate poverty through providing the best technology trainings to people who want to become self-sufficient. To accomplish this, we bought a franchise from New Horizons; the World’s Largest Independent IT Training Company and set up a state of the art training facility in the underprivileged Northern
