Jack was going to walk over toward the mountain until he was out of sight of the Sherriff and then he planned to take his thousand dollars and slip on down the road. But just as he got out of sight of the Sherriff and the deputies, that unicorn caught Jack’s smell and came a bellowing. Jack backed up against a huge oak tree, and tried to look invisible while he shook with fear. That unicorn didn’t need to see Jack, they have and excellent sense of smell. The unicorn came racing up over the hill, mane flying like whirlwind, snorting like a locomotive, hooves making sparks on the rocks and that horn shining like a spear in the sun. It was a terrible sight and it charged toward Jack. The unicorn bowed its neck and pointed its horn right at Jack and charged as fast as it could. Just before the unicorn stuck him with the horn, Jack dropped to his knees to say one last prayer, and the unicorn ran headfirst into that big old oak tree. The horn went right through the tree and the tip was sticking out the other side. Jack jumped up, ran around the tree and grabbed a big rock. He banged on the tip of that horn with the rock and bent it over like a nail in a board. Try and try as he would, that unicorn couldn’t pull himself free from the oak tree.
