If that medication was taken away, the patient would snap. Similarly, Danny Petic snapped. Danny took his father’s gun and shot both of his parents. “[He] walked into the living room where his parents were watching a baseball game, shot his father and shot his mother. The most likely reason for this coming from his parents decision to ban Halo 3 from their house. Danny’s parents took [Danny’s] copy [of Halo 3] and locked it away in their gun cabinet.” Danny had been in a snowboarding accident leaving him bedridden and causing him to fall into a dark pit of severe depression. Not having much else to do ¨all [Danny] wanted to do was play Halo 3.” This became his outlet for aggression. When his parents took away “his outlet for aggression,¨ he snapped.” If you wouldn't take medication away from a mental patient why would you take away a healthy outlet for someone with severe depression. Know that Danny’s father locked his healthy habit away in the same place as a deadly weapon. The only way to explain this is a recipe for disaster. Though proven that the more hours of video games played the more aggressive the player becomes Danny had pent up aggression prior to playing video games. In 2011 riots in London, England broke out after the wrongfully committed murder of an African American man named Mark Duggan. During the riots “looting and arson spread throughout the city.” The London police force looking for a scapegoat turned to video games. One policeman spoke out blaming Grand Theft Auto saying “these are bad people who did this are kids out of control. When I was younger it was all Pac Man and board games. According to Dr. R “new advances in technology makes people think it's the source of all evil” proven by the police officer's comment. Now they are playing Grand Theft Auto and want to live it for themselves.” However, there is no proof for that any of the rioters even played Grand Theft Auto or any video games at all. There is a possibility that some of the rioters were simple “opportunists” who took advantage of the situation to rob storefronts which is modeled in Grand Theft Auto. On the other hand the lion’s share of the riots was protesting against the murder of their neighbor proving the link between video games promoting social connectedness. The bottom line is that this is just another scenario where people in trouble with the law turn to the easy answer to their problems. The more studies that occur and knowledge given on violent video games will help eliminate the amount of accusations brought against violent video
