In our first discussion, one of the instruments I believe will support myself in the professional field is the Sensory Profile 2 by Winnie Dunn and Greenspan Social-Emotional Growth Chart by Stanley Greenspan. Speaking about these two instruments, they both promote a reliability and validity. According to Hays (2013), reliability is extremely important for professionals who use psychological testing. With that being said, the method attributes the consistency of the test measurements and excludes chance and nonessential factors in the outcome (p. 89). On the other hand, Hays defines that validity compromises the relevant and applicable inferences that are made by the instrument. Speaking about the scale, the reliability of their growth chart to discover the mastery of early quantities of social and emotional growth, documents social and emotional functioning, create goals for intervention planning, document progress in intervention programs, and detect problems with capacities in social-emotional development (Greenspan, 2004). However, the validity of the assessment is a parent and caregiver questionnaire containing that the proper items are ordered developmentally and according to the age at which the item is mastered. After mastering the developmentally mastered behavior, the child is to show mastery in the less advanced behavior that occur in a previous age. In regards to the developments, the items are rated on a 5-point scale and reported as cut scores. Indeed, this tool is standardized to aide evaluations of children’s sensory patterns in environments such as homes, school, and community based activities. Finally, the measures within this assessment will provide accurate diagnosis for my clients though detecting what milestones the child is at, the age of which that milestone is most likely to be completed, and discovering early identifications of social-emotional deficits that child might be suffering from (Greenspan,
