Letter of Intent: First of all, I would like to say thank you to every member on the 2015-2016 E-board for the hard work and dedication you put into the association. Reflecting back on this year, we were able to perform at a level that other student’s organizations only hope to and for that I can say that I am proud to have served with all of you. My goal since the first day that I set foot on Temple’s campus has been to be the most competitive Pre-PT student that I could be. The adjustment from high school to college is a tough one for most but thanks to the TPPTA’s guidance, I was able to live up to the expectations I set for myself. I took all of the advice from pervious E-board members and our guest speakers and used it to sharpen …show more content…
I think that I would excel at this position because for the last year and a half I have worked at an academic coach for the university students interested in the healthcare field. My job consisted of organizing meetings with other students, taking notes of what we accomplished during our meetings and taught them the necessary time management and organizational skills students need to be successful at a collegiate level. The fact that I was rewarded academic coach of the month more than three separate and my students increasing their overall GPA from previous semesters by an average of 0.45 should speak volumes that I am more than capable of holding productive meetings with other students and that my own time management and organizational skills are far beyond stellar. In regards to holding general body meetings, my background in public speaking is also superb. As a junior in high school, I was selected to be the junior class representative in the 50th annual Oratorical Speaking Event. For this event, I was asked to prepare a 15 minute speech and deliver it to an audience of 600. I realized after my speech that I have no problem with public speaking. Seeing that public speaking is the number one fear in the United States, you have no need to worry …show more content…
This idea is still in the mill but my plan is to make our resource page of individual opportunities longer, better, and private. The list would then be moved to Owlconnect where only members who we have confirmed as full time members could view the page. I have spoken to many of our members who have used this resource to get shadowing positions and internships in the past so having our members work for the information will not only be good for our club participation but also for our members to feel like completing our requirements is an accomplishment. Thank you again for reviewing my application and I look forward to hearing from you in the near

I would consider myself moderately anxious about public speaking. I remember the first few communication apprehensions I experienced in my personal and work life. With my personal experience, I was at church when I shared a testimony with the bible study. With my work encounter, I had to conduct status updates for two areas during project implementations and testing phases with a large group. In both situations, my heart pounded loudly right before I spoke and when the words came out of my mouth, I felt like I had to speak quickly like Speedy Gonzalez!…

Ethics is the broad theme of ISLLC Standard 5. The activities related to this standard provided me with a means to reflect on my personal code of ethics, explore ethics from the perspective of a district official, and to hear others’ perspectives of ethics in the school organization. The first activity allowed me to interview Richard Stiverson, a school board member, regarding his code of ethics. The interview was insightful and did not veer far from what I consider to be ethical. With regard to this activity, I was able to grasp the notion that ethical behavior is paramount to building and maintaining trust in an organization.…

Since my second semester at UT, I have devoted 15 hours a week to volunteering as a Young Life leader. Every week I help run a club meeting for dozens of high school kids, manage a planning meeting with my teammates, and lead a small group for sophomore girls. I spend hours at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School watching games and performances, and simply getting to know these young adults. Through investing this time to build relationships as a mentor and role model, I strove to show these girls that they are significant, noticed and valued. Volunteering as a Young Life leader has taught me invaluable lessons in building relationships, caring for others, and working with a team that will help me to be a more supportive and productive physician…

As a possible incoming student, who not only desires to, but needs to learn and attend a favorable campus, the things that I can offer and/or bring are my experiences and skills. I will try to help enrich the campus community as much as I can. Although, my experiences and interests may be easily overlooked by some because of the simple fact that I am “only seventeen,” and that everyone is still continuously evolving. I believe I can still bring something to only help enrich the community. A particular experience that I know differentiates from others is, being Hmong.…

At first I didn’t want to be an occupational therapist assistant. I had dreams of becoming a nurse and following my passion of science. I became a certified nursing assistant in hopes of becoming a nurse then began to realize I didn’t like nursing as much as I assumed I would, but this exposed me to occupational therapy. I quickly realized I wanted to be an occupational therapist assistant where I could see personally the results of my efforts, and spend more time with patients impacting their life, as the occupational therapist assistant impacted my residents. I have always loved helping others and empowering others to help themselves.…

Envision a young, high school student walking through a hall, clinging to the walls, determined to go unnoticed by the swarms of people walking by. The wallflower. Me. Something seemed intriguing about the club so I convinced my friend to join with me and become my partner.…

Being a first generation college student, I did not know that I could have a career conducting research or that I could have a profession that inspired me in the way that conducting research has thus far. I would like to pursue graduate education because despite my collection of research experiences and my education in statistics and research methods, I know that there is a realm of skills that I do not currently possess that are necessary to conduct higher level research. Study at a university like the University of Tennessee will not only provide me the quality education needed to conduct research but it will connect me to individuals who will help to open avenues previously closed to me. I have always wanted to do something that would change the world and I understand that is a lofty goal, but if I could use my talents and passions to help just a few people, then I would feel accomplished.…

I sometimes get nervous about what people are thinking about my speech when I am giving it but if I don’t judge people from the audience then I will have the mindset when I am on stage that people from the audience are not judging me. Lastly, I think that I will be able to get up in front of people and give a speech without getting extremely nervous. I haven’t had much experience with speaking in front of big groups but hopefully by the end of this semester I will be very good at it without having any nervous feelings if someone asked me to give a public…
