Divergent is an amazing science fiction novel. The book was published in April 25, 2011. The book was written by Veronica Roth and won two awards. Veronica was raised in Barrington, Illinois. She first started off her career at Carleton College, but then later transferred to Northwestern University to join their creative writing program. She wrote her first book “Divergent” during her senior year at college over winter break.
The book takes you on a journey with the main character Tris. She was born in a faction named Abnegation that believed in Selfless acts, but once she turned 16 she can have the choice of being on her own, or staying with her family. She takes the test that provides her the answers of what faction she should join. She comes out as divergent. Divergent is when someone fits under more than one faction. She chooses the Dauntless. The group of people that are guardians and cherish bravery beyond anything. There, she meets a man named Four, he will teach her how to make it past initiation. She tries to fit in with the dauntless and make it past initiation with Four’s help. The book is written in a futuristic society that is controlled by the government.
