Descriptive Essay: Pope Student Center

On Dalton State campus, many students arrive hoping to receive an education to further their careers. College campuses offer a system of buildings to provide services that helps each student find a place of stability. The highly populated and generic Pope Student Center is an ideal spot for any student who is hungry, a social seeker, and needing a rest from the heavy college work. Yet, my preferred region of the Dalton State campus is the outside of the Pope Student Center. The captivating scenery releases a peacefulness which allows me to do work; the versatile textures of concrete to wood, and the warm and wintry weather brushing my skin by the oncoming of autumn allow me to calm the anxiety and pressure of being in a college setting. At home, it is difficult to seek quietness, comfort, and resources. The college atmosphere facilitates the work I have to accomplish day-to-day. The clicking and tapping of keyboards on laptops or the rustling paper turning of book pages sends me to different location such as a library or café. At home, I am more likely to take a few or multiple snack breaks between homework credited to my mom’s weekly bean soup. In the free hour and a half I have after Math and before English class, I enjoy walking to the seating area and sitting on the bench by myself a majority of the time. The starkness of the buildings doesn’t catch my interest, so the outdoors is a much better study space undeniably. With an interesting book and fair weather, it’s pleasant to be in an enclosed space despite the number of students walking around. I’ve never felt comfortable or decent in my own home, and this is one of the few places I’d graciously enjoy being
