Portable appliance testing (PAT)
Precaution needs to be taken when maintaining a computer system as it ensures that you are safe from any danger caused by portable electrical equipment .e.g. you are likely to get electrical shock when you open up PC if It is not unplugged from the socket and you can also scrape or cut your hands with sharp object if you are not careful when dealing with RAM or Fan. Also you are likely to get burns if the computer is left on for a very long time as it cause fire to occur.

An individual may come across many different issues when maintain computer system. When maintain computer system the technicians needs to ensure that they follow the health and safety polices set by Tecklar. Below I will be explaining the health and safety risks and ways of to how these risk can be avoided. The issues that a technician may across when maintaining computer system are:
Electrostatic discharge
It is also known as ESD.it occurs when sudden flow of electricity between two objects come in contact with each other, which results in either sparks occurring or components to short circuit. Not only can it cause fire but it can also cause harm to the users if they are close to the component as it can cause electric shock.
