I think the new member education program is essential for the transitioning new sister in determining if Delta Zeta is the right fit for her. If the process goes the way it is supposed to, it will make the young women excited to wake up and call herself a sister in our chapter. For myself, it’s crucial to be a part of changes that influenced yourself in some way. For just going through the process myself, I think the program was great; however, I want to be a part of the team to make it even better. With that being said, I think there could be a few changes made to make each pledged member as comfortable and excited about their future in this chapter as imaginable. I want to help welcome the new sisters into our homes and introduce them to the women they’re going to spend the best four years of their life with. I want to be a part of helping build a strong unity within a single pledge class.
Another reason I am applying for this position, is the same motive I wanted to join a chapter in the first place- to get involved. In high school I was in a program similar to the New Member Team called Link Crew. In this program upperclassmen were paired with 7 freshmen to help make their transition into high school as smooth as possible. The Link Crew Leader would mentor their freshmen for the entire year, helping with any concerns they might have. Not only did this program helped the freshmen, but also it helped me. It turned me into a leader. This program helped me grow. It made me want to help other people. It filled my heart with joy every time one of them told me that I helped them, even if was just advice. I went on to hold a leadership position in the program my senior year and I couldn’t be more proud of the changes I made to make the program even better. Now in college, I want to keep this momentum going. I want to continue to help others, no matter how small. In other words, applying for this position is my first real step in achieving my goal. What motivated you to go through recruitment? Why did you join Delta Zeta? I was the first person in my family to go to a university, let alone get involved in Greek Life. However, I wanted to make the most of my college experience. All I really knew about recruitment is what was shown on movies and what my friends had told me from their experiences. I went through the process thinking if it works out then great! If not, that’s ok too. Personally, recruitment was hard for me. It shot my confidence and I wanted to drop immediately. My Rho Gamma, Caitlyn Simpson, became my rock. She motivated me to get through the day and give it my all before quitting. After the second round and meeting Isa Blanes, I was hooked on Delta Zeta. After talking to her about the philanthropy here, it made me feel so connected to the chapter. I grew up with stutter and went through speech therapy for almost ten years. Therefore, after talking to her about my past relating back to this philanthropy, and being able to connect with her on a deeper level, made me want to come back each round. Also, each conversation I had, felt so sincere. Each woman I talked to made me not want to leave. Even at the beginning I could see myself in this chapter. At …show more content…
Ritual is knowing the history of this sorority dating back to 1902. Ritual is keeping up the traditions of our founders. Ritual is the symbols that we represent outside of the house, including the rose and the lamp. Ritual is wearing our badge with pride. Ritual is how we treat one another in the house and the student’s on campus. It’s everything mentioned in our creed we recite on Sundays. Ritual is loving our sisters and treating each woman with respect. I experienced ritual every time I walk in the house; even if it’s just for dinner. I relate to Delta Zeta’s Ritual during every event. Whether it’s chapter, ceremonies, or hanging out with a sister, none of that could be possible without our
