Personal Narrative: A Thank You Letter

Superior Essays
Dear Keenan, It’s me, Tristan. I’ve wanted to reply to your thanks and the advice you shared with me, some of that has really stuck with me and will for the rest of my life.I wanted to say thank you for the thank you, but not only the thank you but for everything. You were always there for me and some of the conversations we shared my junior and senior year were some of the most important in my high school career, and I wish I had met you sooner as I probably would’ve figured much more of it before basically hitting rock bottom. I think I’m better now, but it’s still hard to tell if I’m better or if the meds are the only thing keeping me together. I really wanted you to know that you were one of the most important people I met at Heights and …show more content…
I was wearing my Pinkerton shirt and you just making that small comment mentioning that Pinkerton was better than the Blue Album let me know you were the real deal. Speaking of 90’s music that nobody thinks of nowadays, I just recently discovered American Football (the band/album), and wow this album is good and apparently there is another coming later this year after a seventeen year drought, and I’ll be able to say I was a fan when they only had one album. I’m sure you’ve heard the album, but if you haven 't, you should check it out. I’ve also been obsessed with this jazz/hip-hop trio/quartet called BADBADNOTGOOD that just released their fourth album appropriately named IV. They do some really good instrumental covers of old school rap (Tribe Called Quest, Nas) and even some Joy Division. They’ve got a good range of music and you should give them a listen if that sounds somewhat interesting. Then I’ve discovered some super small(ish) alternate/lo-fi/indie/nobodyknowsaboutthembutmeandthatmakesmecool bands. One that’s somewhat untastefully named Teen Suicide (they’re changing the name I think), recently released the album It’s The Big Joyous Celebration, Let’s Stir The Honeypot that, again has some musical range spanning several genres, this album was a little harsh to get through the …show more content…
I think we were really spoiled by 2014, man was that a good year for cinema. While there haven 't been a ton in the theatres I’ve still been watching a ton of movies. I just went through basically every Wes Anderson film recently, and still have a tough time ranking them. I think I’ve convinced myself that The Grand Budapest Hotel is his best work. From the beautiful set pieces, to the humor, to the cast and soundtrack (but Wes always has great soundtracks). But it’s hard when I look at his films and consider when in his career they came out, I mean his second film was Rushmore and it’s superb, but so is The Royal Tenenbaums, and so is The Life Aquatic, and so is Moonrise Kingdom, etc. What’s your favorite Wes film, and where do you rank them? Have you seen anything good

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

There are several experiences in my life where I have felt that I was treated in an unfair manner, but the most recent of those experiences is the one that occurred to me only months prior to this application. Up until the beginning of November of this year, I used to believe that being a great and successful student would be the most rewarding accomplishment of my senior high career. As a result of this, I unwisely assumed that the most important thing in my life was how well I could do on the next test. I spent a meager amount of my time involved in anything else aside from my homework or studying; expecting to be fairly remunerated for a majority of my hard work. Earlier this year, I was indeed rewarded with an application to National Honors…

Polished Brief Have you ever wanted something so bad that you thought it was necessary for your life to go on, for me that something was a pet dog. At the age of seven I was begging my parents to get me a puppy for about a year, the conversations usually sounded like this “ Hey mom and dad I was wondering if I could get a puppy this year for my birthday?” and they would reply “ I don’t know son a dog is a huge responsibility, I don’t know if you are ready for this yet.” then I would storm off all angry, because I did not get the answer I was looking or hoping for.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

Dear Mr. Pathman, Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me last week. I was surprised by how much we had in common; not only did we both live on Collins third floor freshman year at Wake, but we also both have a passion for GI research! I appreciate you taking the time to tell me a bit about the medical school's housing system, and I hope that after our conversation, Hit the Bricks will be an event that will promote friendly competition between medical students while also benefitting the Brian Piccolo Cancer Foundation. In addition, it was a pleasure to discuss my love of music and some of the ways in which my world travels with the Philadelphia Boys Choir will impact me as a physician. Thank you again for your time, and…

The most surprising thing I discovered about Monica would be letters of recommendations. She feels letters of recommendations are important, especially for the student. I figured that she would not necessarily like writing them because most counselors write them all the time. She feels very comfortable helping students out with that type of thing. There is one question I wish I would have asked, but sadly I could not meet with her in person.…

What I am Thankful For “Thank you” is a simple, yet moving phrase. The words “thank you” cover such a wide spectrum of immeasurable gratitude. There are many people who I need to thank, but the people I must express gratitude to are my Mom, who taught me how to speak and provides me with delicious food to eat everyday , my Dad who introduced me to mathematics , and my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Frye, for motivating me to put forth my best effort in everything I do. My mother has helped me a lot throughout my life and she still does today.…
