Principles of cognitive learning theory and knowledge production Piaget believed that children learn by playing. He believed if they played in a developmentally appropriate environment that they are able to learn and develop. That is if the child is able to relate their self to in order to make sense of it all. As children grow, they learn through play whether it be gaining the ability through social interactions to tell the difference between insects and spiders or through the classroom seeing what others students display. During these times the child is taking in their experiences and applying it to a more personal meaning. As the child begins to understand their experience that is where the knowledge production comes into place. It allows …show more content…
This particular theory has impacted the classrooms dramatically. It has made teachers present the knowledge and then explain to the students why this is the way it is, and tries to connect it to something that is meaningful for the students. Piaget believes that this allows students to reach assimilation and accommodation to find their equilibrium. As the teacher I attempted to provide a plethora of experiences for the students to grasp the information for example, including puns and jokes along the way to keep the students interested. When I was asked the question, “Did anyone recognize that sound?” before the lesson began I was able to access their prior knowledge. I feel as if the presentation went well, but with practice I feel as if I can become more create to provide lesson that have more value and depth to help the students in knowledge
