The biggest challenges that Permalco faces is to convince female minority candidates to come to their company is to find the right set of potential hires. Doing this would require that the search look in the right location and the right environment. It will be necessary to find candidates who have the ability to work in harsh and uncontrolled environments where extended work hours are required under less than acceptable conditions. Some of these possible environments are the oil industry, military and mining locations. Additionally, it is clear that the potential for a discrimination case is very high as only minority female candidates are being sought after.…
The case study for unit three describes an incident in which two firefighters were riding on the turntable of their apparatus while going to a preplan. While riding on the turntable the two firefighters had to duck to avoid striking a bridge. An engine company was following behind the ladder truck and witnessed the incident occur and failed to take any actions to prevent or report it. An off-duty firefighter witnessed the incident and reported it to the chief. The department did have SOPs in place requiring all personnel to ride in the cab and to wear seatbelts while an apparatus is in motion.…
Candidate Hills provided a thorough five paragraph order. Candidate Hills briefed with confidence, placing great emphasis on mission accomplishment, and briefing tasking statements with good detail and purpose, ensuring each member understood their purpose. However, Candidate Hills somehow became disoriented during the execution of movement to contact; he began walking in a 45 degree angle from his direction of attack and had to be guided back onto the correct azimuth by his fire team on at least two occasions before taking a casualty in the scenario. Candidate Hills' emphasis on mission accomplishment, and detailed tasking statements, played out well as he became the casualty requiring his fire team to quickly adapt to the newly developed…
SNC attempted to operate in a non-tactical setting by having the fire team step off in condition four. SNC was reminded by a fellow candidate to go to condition…
Candidate Collins briefed a very thorough brief. His brief included the tasking of each fire team member, however, it was briefed during the wrong paragraph. SNC's brief was so thorough it took over half of time away from mission accomplishment. Before the execution phase, SNC posted security and ensured he was effectivly providing security by orienting him in the proper direction. There was no initial plan briefed.…
8. SNC provided the bare minimum information required for his five paragraph order. He lacked in confidence and when he was not sure of his azimuth he guessed a number and gave it to his fire team member responsible for the navigation. This decision would have gotten his fire team lost, but his fire team member corrected him. SNC was able to generate a plan and make decisions but they were not confident and well thought out decisions.…
Candidate Sinclair, hereby referred to as SNC, confidently briefed a clear and logical order, however completely omitted the Admin and Logistics and Command and Signal paragraphs. At no time during the brief did SNC address the paragraph title or the information which should have been contained in those paragraphs. SNC issued a poor, partially-developed plan. SNC employed two subordinates as security and mandated these candidates provide security reports every 40 seconds; these subordinates were within 10 meters of SNC. SNC sent SNC’s remaining subordinate to continually physically check on the other two subordinates providing security.…
Candidate Rudd stumbled through his entire brief and quickly lost composure while briefing in a quiet and nervous tone of voice. SNC did not brief all of the Orientation paragraph, made up or stole details from previous scenarios that could potentially drive the mission, and his Execution paragraph lacked relevant, actionable information and tasking statements. Once his fire team received contact, SNC froze and completely ignored the need for an ADDRAC, haphazardly trying to buddy rush in an unspecified direction. Upon receiving contact, SNC was unable to process the fact that one of his team members was a casualty, and he remained unable to make a decision while receiving light small arms fire. SNC bounced back and forth between closing with…
Candidate Vitanza demonstrated an above average level of proficiency in briefing the five paragraph order. During his brief SNC was not nervous and had a lot of confidence. During the execution portion of the scenario SNC moved his fire team quickly. During the conduct of the scenario the fire team took enemy contact and he gave an accurate ADDRAC. SNC display a high sense of urgency while closing with the enemy, this resulted in his subordinates acting in the same manner moving quickly during buddy rushing.…
Candidate Campas was timid and did not demonstrate a solid understanding of his order when presenting it. He struggled to project his voice and mainly read from his notes. SNC did not brief a scheme of maneuver and while providing tasks appeared to be making up a plan while he spoke. His fire team members entered the execution phase uncertain with how they were expected to begin or complete their mission. Once Candidate Campas realized he needed to create a more thorough plan he did so by receiving some input from the rest of his fire team and then set the plan in motion.…
Candidate Lee was not confident at all and because of that his brief was unclear; while briefing the five paragraphs order SNC had a tendency of pausing, coughing, and clearing his throat which made it difficult to understand the order. SNC did not say what parts of the order he was briefing which was confusing. SNC failed to make much needed eye contact with the members of his fire team and because of that his fire team dispersion during the patrol was disorderly. Once there was enemy present; SNC hesitated to tell the rest of his fire team to get down and seek cover or what direction the enemies were at. After regaining his composure SNC was able to pursue the enemy and control his fire team.…
Candidate Delbosque started his problem with a poor 5-paragraph order. The current location grid coordinate was inaccurate, he stated that the enemy was seen two minutes ago vice ten minutes, and it was delivered with zero command presence. SNC was visibly shaking throughout his order and failed to remain confidant as a leader. The team crossed the line of departure and SNC controlled his unit enough to move them through the tree line. Once the enemy engaged the fire team, SNC gave a terrible ADDRAC and began to buddy rush.…
12… Candidate Dere took a second to assess the situation before she addressed her team. When SNC issued her five paragraph order, SNC was very articulate but was also very soft and timid. No initial plan was briefed during the execution portion. As soon as the team moved towards the obstacle, SNC started to poll the team for suggestions, relying solely on them for ideas.…
