Better By Nichole Caldwell

Better by Nichole Caldwell is about how to live a more sustainable life style not matter where you live or who you are. Better has inspired me to try to live a more green life style. “living green requires a shift in how we live out lives”. This saying really opened my eyes. I used to stupidly think that because something was packaged as being green meant it was “green”. Yes, Some packaging might be better for the environment than others, but overall its still not good. I should make things that I normally buy prepackaged it will not only be cheaper it will save on the unnecessary packaging. Unnecessary packing is not the only thing I agreed with Nichole about that is bad for the environment. She talked about how raising animals for consumption …show more content…
We also have blackberry and raspberry bush. We make our own pasta sauce and freeze it so we have it whenever we need it and don 't have to buy any from the store. We can peppers and green beans. We make our pickles from our cucumbers. We can apple sauce. Strengths of this book are that it uses a lot of research and statistics to back up what she is trying to say. The statistic really bring to the readers attention the negative impact people are having on the environment. Without the statistics the reader could just think that everything being said is being made up. Weaknesses of this book are that so many topics are covered that it is almost to overwhelming to read all at once. I think she should have split it up into two books. One book should have been about the back background of Nichole and the farm. This one should talk about the betterArts, the radio station and all the programs the farm offers. The second book should have all the statistics and information to inform people about sustainable living as well as all the DIY’s at the end of the …show more content…
I think the target market is for people in their late teens to mid twenties. I think this because people who are in their thirties and older have their habits and routines and it would be harder to persuade them to change their ways then it would be for a person in their twenties who is just starting life on their own. That being said I would recommend this book to a lot of my friends. We are all into trying to better the environment and live green life styles. I think this book would inspire them to be more proactive just like it did me. Overall this was a very informative book. I got a good look into was Better Farms and betterArts is all about. I am proud to say that I live close to this amazing place and I am even luckier to be able to work with them to try to make what they do more known not only in Northern New York, but around the

It left so many unanswered questions for the reader, which can be quite frustrating as I have heard from other students. I will be going more in depth with this in the next paragraph. Overall, Barbara Haworth-Attard had many outstanding strengths that made the book worthwhile to read, but there are still some areas that she might want to work on for her next writing…

Think about what the world is going to be like twenty years from now; is it going to be the exact same? No, the world is constantly changing every day, just like people. Now ask this question, is it changing for better or worse? The world today has lost hope. The world has lost hope that there are people who will be brave enough to stand up and fight against the increasing climate and environmental crisis in today 's world.…

Today’s society in the United States is a technological paradise where answers can be found in the blink of an eye on a smart phone and trips across the world can be made in a matter of hours. Innovations and constant breakthroughs have made people smarter and more efficient but, consequently, have also made the nation, as a whole, distracted. With on-going industrialization, the environment has taken an abrupt turn for the worst. The solution for the past few decades has been to “go green.” Words like “recycle” and “solar energy” have become focal points for many people, and the question for our society has become, “How can we fix this problem that has been created?”…

Environmental historian and professor, Ted Steinberg wrote the book Down To Earth which presents American history through the lens of nature. Steinberg does an excellent job displaying the significant role nature has played throughout American history and his writing will forever change the way you perceive our country’s history. This book differs from your traditional American History books by uniquely linking historical events to their environmental counterparts. Down To Earth provides an insightful perspective on American History by highlighting the environmental impacts caused by our culture and making us question whether or not development truly meant progress.…

Throughout the book, there were typographical errors such as misspellings (139) and omitted words (14). This did not do much to damage the entire story, but I felt it did weaken my opinion. Another weakness is Dudden 's bibliographical choices. While her varied and long bibliography allowed for a vivid tale to be told, I found a lot of her sources to be primarily focused on women 's suffrage, rather than having an equal amount on both movements. I feel this lends her story to be more of how the black suffrage movement "beat" the women 's suffrage movement.…

A Brilliant Solution: Inventing the American Constitution In 1784 the American revolutionary war concluded and there was economic depression. The Continental Congress was confronted with demands of repayment for wartime loans from a mass of angry individuals and negatives began to arise with the Articles of confederation. America had no way to repay its debts from war and farmers were not able to reimburse the large sum of money for the land they were given in order to provide for the other states during the war. After reading Ishmael, my mind was astounded by the depth of which the novel illustrated about humanity and its captivity. It gave me a new prospective of how in some ways I would be considered conformed to the world based of “Mother Culture” ideas. It made me feel guilty that despite everything I have done and learned in relation to the environment my humanistic values may be contradicting it. I had to take a step back couple of times reading the novel to correlate it with my own personal values, the way I saw the world, and the very foundation of the world’s educational systems and beliefs.…

Being environmentally conscious has been the focus of many people for several years, and by judging how much the media has begun to cover such a topic, it will be the concern of more and more people as time passes. Since this planet is the only one we have to live on so far, we need to take care of it the best we possibly can before it’s too late to fix our mistakes. To start, each person will need to see the reason behind taking care of our planet, which is that global warming is a legitimate issue, and every single person on the planet can either make a positive or negative impact on it. Each of the essays I evaluated spoke of different issues regarding or touching on global warming that I had not previously thought too much about, and effectively…

Target Market The term target market is the intended audience for a product or service, which for J.C. Penny’s is the new “all American” segment, this would be young teens and adults with higher disposable incomes. More than likely, CEO Ron Johnson used psychographic and lifestyle analysis to help reach out to this market segment. He elected Ellen DeGeneres as the spokeswoman to appeal to the younger generation’s desire to be all inclusive and support the emerging notion of equality. One major benefit of this trendy market segment is the millennials are profitable and substantial.…
