-Cut out two boards that are 5x7in. On both sides of each board cut the edge off at a 60 degree angle. The side profile should appear as a parallelogram.

Step 3: Sanding Down the Wood
Sand along the cut edges of the boards, moving the sand paper back and forth
Step 4: Building the Frame
Get all six of the 4 x 6.5in boards and begin gluing them together, using wood glue, in a hexagonal shape. Spread the glue evenly along one side of the two that you will glue together. Be careful not to put too much glue, it can cause the glue to ooze out when pressure is applied to the boards. Let it then sit to dry for about 30 mins to 1 hour.

Step 5: Applying the Back
Glue the frame onto the hexagon shaped board, putting glue on the edges of the frame that was just made. Let this then sit to dry.

Step 7: Adding the Roof
Get all 2 of the 5x7in boards and the wood glue. First apply the wood glue to one face of the frame and gently place one of the 5x7in boards on top. Repeat this step with the other 5x7in board, putting glue on the face next to the one you just put glue on. Let it then sit to

The folding varied according to its function. For instance, small two fold screens were used for tea ceremonies, while large, gold-leaf screens with up to eight folds served as backdrops for dancing. An emphasis on mobility required a structure that would be lightweight and flexible. Flexibility was achieved by an ingenious system of strong paper hinges integrated with the panel construction, which allowed reversible folding patterns. The paper hinges brought the panels closer together.…

Imagine a ceiling covered in Styrofoam cups assembled together so intricately and catching the light so meticulously that the material used looks far more advanced than an everyday manufactured item. Imagine a giant cube of toothpicks being held together by just the weight of the other surrounding toothpicks, causing it to be so fragile and vulnerable yet so sturdy at the same time. Imagine a plethora of metal Slinky’s intertwined and entangled in such a way it looks as though they are wrestling with themselves while still supporting the entirety of itself. Tara Donovan, an artist from the east coast, has spent the last two decades creating these structures and many like them.…

Using these figures I decided that it would be best to set 32 ft equal to 1 in. After this, the next part would be creating the aqueduct. Using the same scale, I found the other measurements and laid out a slab of clay to cut the first layer of arches into. The next layers were created with the same process, and then I joined the layers together with a few toothpicks. After the clay dried, I drilled a few holes in a board that corresponded with the toothpicks that stuck out the bottom, so that I could stand it up.…
