The attack was so devastating to the people of the U.S. that, in the first time in history, the American people were all determined to go to war. The Congress almost unanimously agreed to this declaration of war. Now since the U.S. declared war on Japan, Japan’s allies, Italy and Germany, declared war on the United States. Almost two years after the attack, the U.S. officially entered WWII.
With the U.S. about 2 years into the war, it seems that the U.S. and the rest of the Allied powers are going to win the war, but Japan still stands in the way of total victory over the war for the Allied powers. Who else would be deemed more to take out Japan than the United States. They deserve to end the war once and for all and give their people justice for what Japan had done to them. On August 6, 1945, the United States sent a B-29 Bomber over to Japan. This aircraft carried the world's first atomic bomb. Japan was not ready for what was about to become of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure. This devastated Japan and showed how much power the U.S. holds and is willing to unleash. Three days later, a second plane dropped another bomb on Nagasaki killing over 40,000 people. After this attack, Hirohito, unconditionally surrendered to the United States seeing that this is the best option for his people seeing the U.S. would stop at nothing to win the war after the second bombing.
