Opposing sides might state that the United States of America did not have bomb the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war. They state that they should have told them the date when they would have been bombed, and the city that would have been bombed, that way they could have saved human lives. This would have been the incorrect thing to do because if Japan was told, they would move their citizens out of the area, and they would have moved POW from all countries that had fought in the Pacific into the area, that way they would have been killed. And they would have also shot down the bomb. The Japanese were finatic in the art of war and they would have been willing to make any sacrifice to win the war. If we told them they would just move their citizens out of the way and then kept on fighting, leading us to do a full on invasion. Another argument that people that do not see America as justified pose is that the atomic bomb killed more than 300,000 civilians and caused massive radiation poisoning that lasted for generation. It is true that it is heartbreak that 300,000 people died from the attack. But it was less heartbreaking than the truth that millions of soldiers families would have to hear that their family members have been killed in the planned out invasion of Japan.
