They both just wanted to protect their town the best way that they thought would be best. Even though they were just trying to protect them there were still people who against them. In Batman: The Dark Knight, there were constantly people who were on both sides of the confrontation on whether Batman was a good or bad guy. “He is ruthless and monstrous….Frankly I’m surprised that there aren’t n hundreds more out there just like him.” (Frank 64). Both of these characters find themselves in a position where they didn’t have their own town’s support in anything they did even though they were both just trying to do their jobs and save lives. In Batman: The Dark Knight Returns people feared Batman because he used violence to stop the criminals, while making the people of Gotham fear that he was trying to hurt them instead of saving them. The people of Gotham was so scared that some of the citizens in Gotham wanted to throw Batman in jail.
