Atticus finds himself in the legal battle of his life, and yet he simply stops and takes a look at the facts. He believes in justice, and he does not discriminate within the system, even if the defendant is a colored man. When asked by his daughter Scout, “If you shouldn’t be defendin’ him, then why are you doin’ it?” (p.100) Atticus said that he would not be able to represent the county in the legislature, and he could never tell his children what to do again. His attitude towards the case is rooted in the law, and his personal moral values. If justice is the act of defending the innocent and finding the guilty, then Atticus Finch is truly a just man.
Atticus Finch is steadfast, courteous, and just. He had strong convictions which helped him to stay his path, even when most in his town disagreed with his decisions. Even with the stressful situations he finds himself in, Atticus always manages to remain courteous to all the people he comes across. Atticus loves justice and is ready to defend it.
