Some of the students that attend school rely on the free and reduced lunches to get fed for the day, but with Fridays off those students might not be getting the meals they need (Weldon). With the day off, child care could be an issue for working parents. Lack of childcare and school could force the parents to leave the child home alone all day which could result in a greater chance of the child getting hurt (“No School Fridays”). Because many claim that students who live on ranches get an education at home, rural districts that have a four-day school week say that they don’t lose any educational time (Chmelynski). School districts shouldn’t rely on home education, even if the student lives on a ranch. A rural student could easily spend the day messing around. Some officials have said that metropolitan area students “might use the extra day for the purpose of watching TV, playing video games, or roaming the streets” (Chmelynski). If the student spends their day off messing around, they are not going to excel academically like planned. Having three-day weekends every week might also make it hard for students to return to school focused and ready to learn (“No School
