Rock Bottom I always say whenever I am in trouble I think that I am in “rock bottom”. Like when I have a bad grade, have a bad day at work, or when I get upset at my parents, I want to relate myself to rock bottom. But, if I look at my position from a different view, I should be lucky I have the Tennessee Promise scholarship to keep me in school, I should be happy that I am employed, and I should be blessed enough to have parents to even become upset about. I realize those little hardships is nowhere near rock bottom. Instead, rock bottom is when you are having horrible financial situations, go through extremely traumatic experiences, or when your health is exceptionally poor. First, understand what is not rock bottom. I work at the bowling alley in Franklin and I only make minimum wage. Some people may think that is a bad salary to have, but I am a college student living with my parents. I only have to take care of me for now so that cannot be rock bottom. In my mental state I recently broke up with a girl that cheated on me at prom. Yes I felt a little depressed and lonely about it, but we only dated for a few months. I know several good people that were married for over twenty years only to go through a divorce because their spouse cheated on them. When I look at the people that were cheated on after staying faithful to their spouse for over twenty years; I can only feel like they hit real rock bottom. For me, breaking up with a girl you only dated for a few months…

Empty-Handed This is a story of how one can try so hard for something, yet come up short. It takes place on a coast shortly after a hurricane has hit. This wonderful story filled with irony. There is a flooded town, wrecked ships, dead people and birds floating around. There is a brave curious sailor who comes upon one of the largest shipwrecks he has ever seen and is determined to find a way in. A challenge that proves far more demanding than one would hope for. The short story, After The…
In 500 words or less, please provide a personal statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. I served on active-duty in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. During this memorable period, I discovered an immeasurable amount of my inner abilities: strengths, weaknesses, ambitions, and morals. Having spent years abroad in sixteen different countries on three continents, I maximized this unique opportunity to polish the intangible skills I brought…
A quick summery, the setting of the movie is based around a murder that was done by two marines, Lance Cpl. Harold W. Dawson and Pfc. Louden Downey, which they are accused of killing Pfc. William T. Santiago. However, this incident was the result of a direct order by the platoon commander Lieutenant Kendrick who later was commanded by Colonel Nathan Jessep for “code red”. The reason Santiago’s murder was the breaking of chain of command and written a letter asking for a transfer, in exchange for…
July 11, 2011. I departed for United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Depot San Diego, California. The events I went through are the toughest moments I have ever encountered in my twenty-one years. Discipline; this word eluded me throughout the beginning stages of my life until that first day I stepped onto those yellow footprints. Yelling, organization and speed were constantly the instructor’s purpose. We would walk in a formation with 92 other recruits, while in sync and conduct…
"Dear Past, Thanks for all the lessons......Dear Future, I 'm ready......" Future, a time or period of time following the moment of speaking or writing; time regarded as still to come. In the world every individual is guaranteed a ticket to their own future no matter what that may be. Some people prefer to wait last minute to decide what they are going to make with their lives, you know the "just go with the flow" method. Meanwhile, for some including myself, I began thinking about what I…

I can remember my friends telling me how much they loved their lives as a Marine. Wasn’t sure what was so important about being a Marine or what made them so happy. I can remember 2 years ago my friend Jade kept asking me to go and do workouts with him and his recruiter. I never wanted to go because I thought it was going to be boring and was going to take too long. After a while he joined the Marines and was extremely excited that he made it. He never got to travel a lot but after he joined he…
