I love to read and occasionally write. However, I did not always feel so passionate about these wonderful things. Around first or second grade, maybe even third I did not care for writing at all. In fact, I recall one time when a friend of mine and me miraculously ended up going to the restroom at the same time somehow. I did not actually need to go to the restroom I just did not want to participate in the writing assignment given to me at the time. Yes I know it was kind of silly because when I came back I would still have to do the assignment but, procrastination was still a thing back then and that was my method of doing so. Anyways, I was in the bathroom my not so fantastic friend whose name I do not remember (you’ll find out soon why she’s not a very good one) and I was just minding my own business trying to take as long as humanly possible. When all of a sudden this crazy girl decided to ask me the most unexpected question I have ever been asked to this day. “Do you want to clog all these toilets?” she asked in an unusually calm voice for such an absurd question. I could have walked straight out of that bathroom and back to class or just said no but that’s not what I chose to do because that would be too good to be true. Guess what I did instead… I said “Yeah sure, why not?” WHY NOT?! Are you kidding me? Anyway my “friend” and I put a whole bunch of toilet paper in all of the toilets and commenced to flush all of them therefore overflowing them. My teacher came in at…
Hmmmm, click. Tap tap. Click. Click click clack. Sigh. Why am I writing again—click click tap. click clack taaaa-pp. As a person who has a vendetta against writing, the sounds of the keyboard distract me. My unedited writing turns to gibberish because, for example, no one can say, “j f s s ,“ in the rhythm of which I just typed does not sound amazing. I have always been drawn to music, and even when I strayed from it, I always end up back here. At age four, my parents got me a keyboard because…
But it was not the same drained feeling I got after venting all of my anger. This is good though. Death is not something that one just deals with right away and then forgets about it. This tragedy will stay with me for quite some time. Eventually it will not consume my thoughts and cause me to look at life differently but it will stay with me in the back of my mind. Maybe years down the road when I am teaching a high school English class, I will give my students an assignment that brings…
“Let me read it,” she said. “You’re only five, you can’t read yet,” I informed her. She frowned and sat down. I began to read it. It read, Mary. I won’t make it home for your birthday this year. Things here at the factory are very busy. I would like to wish you a Happy Birthday. I sighed and set it down on the table. “Looks like Father won’t make it home any time soon,” I said. Later, when Margaret was playing with her dolls, I slipped away to Mother’s bedroom. Mother was sitting at her desk,…
We used several inked pens which were blue, green and red. Also, a paper, a ruler, a small brush and of course a tube containing the termites. The experiment started by the teacher giving us the required materials. A student in the group drawn different lines with different colors. Another student put a termite on each different lines. At this point, we can formulate a hypothesis, which is that termites follow any line. To test our hypothesis, we placed a single termite at the beginning of a…
influential agreement. Secondly, she can approach Mr. Feng by mail and let him know that she will be in Taipei in coming days and her company DGG is interested in collaborating with Global Services to make good business in eastern countries. This approach in general will not have such negative consequences and will help company and Erika in a positive manner by opening their fountain pen industry once again east. It will be only possible if Erika will be able to handle the situation with a grace…
Tea & Biscuits: School Bells Soon To Ring Again by Lee O 'Donovan Summer draws to a close and thoughts in our household turn to the preparation needed to manage a successful return to school. Grocery shopping begins to include the stationery aisle.( My wife is an avid pen collector so our shopping trips always did include a scan of the stationery aisle, but now we stop to look at pens and paper with more serious intent!) We begin collecting new pens and pencils, we buy new back packs and new…
I am an eighteen-year-old all American girl with the world waiting at the tip of my pen. I am the apprentice on her way to becoming the master of her own story. With my mind, I can delve into any place that lays beyond the outskirts of an ordinary imagination. I dream and I live those dreams within an infinite number of pages. With my writing utensil, I press pen tip to paper and by doing so I say, "here I am, baring my soul. Criticize how you will." Through the words I utter into the quiet…
That’s because their face and their name are stored in separate areas of your left brain. It’s the job of the right side of your brain to recall those images and labels and put them together for you. That’s just one of the benefits of Zentangle drawing over just coloring in an outline on a page. Zentangle exercises those neural connections when you draw the tangles. Creating Zentangle art is really easy and fast. You traditionally work on a small 3 ½”x3 ½” quality paper tile that you can finish…
Do you remember the excitement as a child to receive something in the mail? Every day you would run to the mailbox with hopes of getting mail. Children in today’s society don’t know the excitement that comes with the mail. Today’s children will grow up to expect emails, texts, and other forms of technology. What is the true importance of written communication? Some may say that there is none while others wish we could go back in time to when that was the only communication we had. The true…
