Garrison Keillor’s “How to Write a Letter” gives instructions on how and why a shy person should write a letter. Keillor believes that when someone is shy they don’t put a lot into the conversations they are in, leaving them unknown to people around them. His solution is to write a letter. Keillor explains that, “…a shy person writes a letter. To be known by another person…”(506). He continues on to add that treating writing a letter as an obligation only serves to be counterproductive to the task. A person who is guilt ridden over not writing will only make it that more difficult for them to write. To Keillor the task of writing a letter should flow smoothly and be a form of self discovery. So, when you have finished not only have you written a successful letter but have found out things about yourself you didn 't know before. Having a person who is shy and has trouble expressing themselves to write a letter is similar to someone getting over a fear. At first you avoid anything to do with that fear but soon realise that it is interfering with your life in ways that you didn 't think possible. But, just as there are instructions on how to write a letter there are instructions on how to get over your fears. Fear is sometimes the one thing holding me back from making a decision or going for something that I 've wanted for a long time, but when I finally got over my fear life became easier. When I was growing up I had a deathly fear of getting attached to things ranging from…
This experiment was designed to test what the limiting nutrient was in Loughberry Lake, as well as examine the trophic state of the lake. In order to find out what the limiting nutrient was, we performed a few different tests. We began with a secchi disk test to see the transparency of the water. Then, we took water samples that we later used to test the turbidity levels of the water after adding varying amounts of phosphorous and nitrogen. Phosphorous was the limiting nutrient in the lake,…
persisted on the grass within the shadows thrown by trees and buildings. Arthur watched silently as Merlin stopped on the small rise before the bank fell down to the water and removed his boots. Socks were peeled off, and his serviceable brown trousers were rolled up to his knees. "I've never done this before. But it feels like I should be in contact with the Lake if I am to summon Freya." Merlin commented. Arthur simply nodded: he had no knowledge at all about such things. If Merlin wanted to…

indicating no correlation. Also, when looking at the figures, lakes Hidden helped drag the R2 down because that point became an outlier. The outlier was farthest from the trend line and ultimately, the Hidden lake contributes the reason why it does not correlate. This show there is no support for the hypothesis because the R2 is too low. The calcium concentration and size of the spine also lacked correlation. “They failed to detect a significant effect of dissolved calcium on morphological…
High in the Sierra Nevada mountains, there is Mono Lake, which is a large but secluded lake tucked away in a depression in the ground a few miles away from the nearest road. At first glance, it may seem like just another normal lake, but it is home to a bizarre, otherworldly landscape that was created when water from fresh water springs underneath the lake mixed with the lake’s salty, alkaline water, forming deposits of limestone. Near the south shore of Mono Lake, grotesque towers of rough,…

The culling of white pine on Blackstone Lake began in the late 1880s with the arrival of the Conger Lumber Company. Once the commercially viable pine had been fully exploited the process of stripping hemlock trees of their bark for the leather tanning process began on the lake in the spring of 1900. At the time the Rankin Bros., headed by James Rankin on Blackstone, were supplying the Conger Lumber Co. Another sawmill operator in the region was the Mitchell Lumber Co. set up by Thomas Mitchell…
