Skagit Valley and its surrounding environment are perfect for camping - especially if you’re a boat owner. There are many opportunities for boating and camping all over the county, and here are a few of the most popular in the area. Diablo Lake
While you’re taking in the stunning views that abound on the trails surrounding Diablo lake, which is northeast of Newhalem by about six miles, remember to enjoy the abundance of native plants and wildlife that are prolific in the area. All campers are welcome March through October, and November through February self-contained units like campers and RVs are allowed. Located about four miles northeast of Concrete, Grandy Lake is a great spot for fisherfolk. With decent fishing for most of the year, April is an especially good month to haul in a load of trout.
Bayview State Park
Bayview State Park is on Padilla Bay, with the boat launch just three blocks away from the park itself. There is another Skagit County boat launch about eight miles away off Highway 20. Take note: this bay is highly affected by tides, and you don’t want to get stranded when the mudflats form at low tide. With about 75 spaces for camping available (roughly a third of them have utility hookups), this is a great place for people who are planning large gatherings like weddings or reunions.
Deception Pass State Park
One of the largest boat-accessible parks and camping opportunities in the area around Skagit Valley, Deception Pass State Park offers recreation and panoramic beauty you’d have trouble finding anywhere else. With two freshwater and five saltwater launches, there is also mooring space and hundreds of feet of fixed and floating docks.
