1. Fender scoops on the Strat, including pickup and bridge configurations. In addition to these design improvements, the new model had several new features that its predecessor, Telecaster, lacked. The Stratocaster came with three pickups (the Telecaster had two) and featured a bridge with a pitch change, a vibrato bar to bend strings, a key point in one of the first printed advertisements. 2. When CBS bought Fender, the Strat changed, and not for the better, in the eyes of certain collectors. The sale of Fender to CBS in 1965 was followed by alterations in the guards of picking, contouring and finishing of the instruments, presumably to facilitate mass production. (There was also a redesign of the pegbox, which became larger to fit a larger Fender decal.) As a result, Strats before 1965 are generally more respected (and with higher prices) by collectors and enthusiasts than by fabricated ones. . during the CBS era, which lasted until 1985.…
A person cannot fully grasp the full effect and intricateness of music without attending a live concert. Upon attending the International Chamber Music Festival Concert, a certain ecstatic vibe could be felt as the performers walked on stage with their musical instruments. The virtuoso’s performed in pieces that contained trios, duets, and quintets; showing the concentration they required when listening to each other. When working on Chamber Music, much of the melody jumps around from instrument to instrument, show casing various solos and much of the instruments having to coincide with each other…
This part of the program was the most anticipated because the audience started to get more excited, especially when the first piece started. The second half of the concert was a little different in the way it was set up. For example, it did not start off with a slow intro; it went straight into the piece. Williams "Star Wars Suite" did have the four movements it was just structured in a different way than Dvořák 's piece. As the concert was going on, I noticed that in Williams work certain…

General Reaction: The concert I attended entitled “Illuminations” was located at the Sottile Theatre, an old historical building on the College of Charleston campus. The theatre was very nice and elegant. The decor there is very eclectic with bright red carpeting throughout and classical pictures decorating the walls. I felt like I was in an old plantation house. We arrived at the theatre thirty minutes early and were able to take in the sights completely before the concert began. My wife…
Dylan, Like The Rolling Stone; Glass: koyaanisqatsi section and John Luther Adams: The Light that fills the world The Dhrupad music is chanting Vedic hymns and mantras. approach to Louis Armstrong’s small band performance in Australia is organized by song. In each of these song sections, I describe what is generally going on. Intermixed amongst my musical review, I also interject my personal feelings and perceptions to what is occurring. I have organized my structure this way in order to provide a methodical structure to my analysis. Louis Armstrong starts playing the trumpet in the first song, “When It’s Sleepy Time Down South,” almost immediately after…
with the idea of making musical instruments with the afternoon class and asked me if I would like to help because I was very artistic. When the afternoon children arrived the special helper for the yellow bumblebee group was Noah. He collected the board from the board as normal and we took the register. There was only 6 children in the afternoon yellow bumblebee group so we helped count as Noah drew the circles on the board. The weather had started to get very grey looking outside so Noah picked…
watch a video of this performance from that year (Bretodeau). The video starts off with a man playing what looks like a violin. The first sound that the instrument emits makes the song seem like it is going to be slow and solemn. However, the man playing the instrument then quickly picks up his pace and the notes being played get higher and higher. This builds up anticipation that something exciting is about to happen. Then suddenly, Duke starts playing the piano and the whole composition…
