Arthritis

When two bones rub against each other and wear away / joint inflammation

Two main types of Arthritis

Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid

How osteoarthritis occurs?

When the cartilage that coats the end of the bones wears away, causing the two bones to rub against eachother.

What Osteoarthritis is linked to

1. Fractures and infections that can harm the internal tissues of a joint.

2. Overusing your joints can lead to damage.

3. A lack of exercise can weaken the muscles that support the joints and decrease joint flexibility.

4. Joints can be strained by excess weight.

Cartilage

Tt covers the end of the bones. It is a smooth tough substance that prevents bones from rubbing against each other. It reduces friction and acts as a shock absorber.

Synovial Fluid

It keeps the the cartilage slippery and lubricated.

Synovial Membrane

Produces the Synovial Fluid

Ligaments

connects two adjacent bones and stops them from coming apart.

The parts of a joint

The two adjacent bones, Ligament, synovial membrane, synovial fluid, and cartilage.

Functions of bones

protect your organs, create blood cells, stores minerals, gives muscles a place to attach to and gives the body a frame.
